McCain may be getting up there in yrs.. but we have a rising Star attached to the ticket: Sarah Palin... I have no doubt she is our Iron Lady.
What do you mean, he’s back? Before Palin, Obama was in the driver’s seat. Since the convention, Obama hasn’t been ahead of the margin of error for very long. The general election has been pretty damn close thus far.
In my opinion, debates don’t amount to much. If Kennedy’s historic trouncing of Nixon was so damn important, why was 1960 the closest election in American history (with tyhe exception of the Jefferson/Adams debacle)? The banking crisis is the only real opportunity for either of them to break ahead, unless something drastic happens (i.e. peace in Iraq or a terrorist attack).
I had hope that McCain would pick up on Obamas comment and tear him another new one.
Did anyone else notice Obamas remark?

Simon also (on his blog) nailed 0bama over the “Kissinger agrees with me on Iran” gaffe.

Big Mac big night. I knew he won and schooled bambi good, but in retrospect (articles coming out) Obama looked like he really is not ready compared to McCain. Obambi never looked like he was to me, but in the papers he sounds his age and experience and maybe that will sink in for a few fence sitters that watched sports instead.
Obama’s tired old game of trying to make McCain a clone of Bush would only be believed by those with half a brain. Anybody who knows anything about McCain’s political record knows he’s a real maverick. This has to be contrasted with Obama’s record of not only NEVER reaching across the aisle but being the most narrowly partisan liberal in the Senate (according to National Journal) and robotically following a leftist agenda which is even to the left of the other liberals in the Senate. He’s projecting his own political pathology onto McCain.
McCain was a house afire. I was pissed in 2000 that W messed him up and out of the race.
McCain needs to reinform the masses how much bad blood existed between him and Bush eight years ago.
One other thing about McCain: he is too modest about his accomplishments. He’s got the goods to be a great prez.
And the energy. Young wife, young life.
I'm glad he mentioned that. I was talking with someone last night about the fact that John McCain's body has endured such trauma that he is very likely in pain a considerable amount of the time, although he doesn't show it.
I really wish they would have the candidates seated at a table or something.
Someone give me some youtube links! :) I wanna see this for myself.
It’s painful to say but Lehrer did a good job as the moderator. He encouraged both of them them to make their remarks directly to each other. He also would ask a question and sit back and let them go at it.
The dinosaur media is calling the debate a draw ... no clear winner
This must mean McCain whipped Hussein’s arse
I was EXTREMELY disappointed that McCain let Barry LIE and blame Bush and capitalism for the bailout mess, and did not make any reference to the Community Reinvestment Act, or mention Bush’s attempt at reform in 2003, blocked by the RATS, or mention his own reform legislation in 2005.
So far on the Friends...Dr. Lamont Hill said Mac won. That’s a shocker! Mike Allen, from the Politico, said Barry won but most viewers will see it as a draw. The Friends said that Barry was best in the first half and that most people went to bed and didn’t see the second half. So far no mention on the bracelet.
Hello, I'm a Mac.
I'm PC.
The standing joke on this site is that whenever anything negative occurs it’s: “W’s fault”.
Last evening when McCain asserted that Obama had the most liberal voting record in the Senate, what was Obama’s reply?
All together now: “W’s fault”.
So Bush is now responsible for the liberals being liberal -these guys can’t be serious.
To me one of the funniest things about the debate last night was a facial expression McCain had right after O said that Ahmadinajad was not the leader of Iran.. McCain was on split screen and he just widened his eyes and looked like he was thinking, “is he nuts?” It was funny, but I didn’t see any mention of it on the thread last night. Did anyone else see this?
