Later, the President was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts as they toured the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. The tour focused on protecting oceans and ocean wildlife, which the President spoke about afterwards. (Transcript)
This afternoon, President Bush met with President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan in the Oval Office. The two leaders then held a video teleconference with Afghani officials and US provincial reconstruction team leaders in Afghanistan. (Transcript)

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice spoke at a UN meeting today in New York City and held a news conference with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari
Tonight, President & Mrs. Bush will attend the 2008 National Book Festival Gala performance and dinner. Both events are being held at the Library of Congress, Jefferson Building, in Washington.
The Book Festival, which is free to the public, will be held tomorrow at the National Mall in Washington with over 50 authors and novelists scheduled to attend, such as Andrew Klavan, Brad Metzler, Sandra Brown, Tony Horowitz and Jenna Bush. Click here for a complete list.

Got a kick out of the picture, snugs. My desk is much worse, at the moment anyway. It's okay, though, because a cluttered desk is a sign of brilliance... Of course, I've not an ounce of evidence to back up such a claim.
I'm curious, what is that grey electrical device in the stand? It looks like a bar code scanner of some sort.
