“I think McCain did some real damage on Afghanistan, but could have hit it harder.”

I agree. McCain’s line about if Obama was so concerned about Afghanistan he could’ve at least visited was damning.

Obama doesn’t understand IRAQ. I discussed this with my friends 6 years ago and the “Strategy” was understood. Remove the safe haven, they will attack back and be removed.

Obambi didn’t need to bother visiting Afghanistan when he was in such a hurry to go shopping in Berlin!

If he couldn’t spare an hour or two for our wounded warriors at Ramstein then he certainly couldn’t be inconvenienced to fly all the way to Afghanistan..... even if he does “Chair” the ever so important sub-committee on NATO and European affairs that oversees issues re Afghanistan but never can seem to meet....

[it’s alright, though, because Joe Biden chairs the overall committee and HE tells Obama it’s OK that the sub-committee never meets..... hey, if your VP running mate gives permission then you can slack off completely on your public duties!!]

Couldashouldawoulda:

"Mr. 0bama has identified Afghanistan as the central front in the war on terror. That's interesting, because even though Mr. 0bama claims Al Qaeda was not in Iraq, when we were having problems there, Osama bin Laden claimed that Iraq was the central front in the war, and urged his followers to go there to fight. After the Surge succeeded and Al Qaeda got their clocks cleaned, Afghanistan became the central front in the war. Why? Because al Qaeda decided to retreat there. During this entire time, Mr. 0bama neither visited Iraq, nor Afghanistan, and in fact could not even trouble himself to call for a subcommittee meeting from the safety and comfort of his Washington DC Office. During a time when American soldiers and marines were fighting and dying in both of these countries, Mr 0bama did not even bother to vote present."

Tie-in to current economic problems:

"Mr 0bama's attitiude in this as in all the crises that have surfaced during his tenure in the Senate has been to have his more capable Senate colleagues handle things, while always being sure to let them know they could 'call him' if they needed a hand."
