The Brilliance of McCain's Move
Rasmussen Reports ^ | Friday, September 26, 2008 | Dick Morris

Posted on 09/26/2008 1:55:20 PM PDT by TSchmereL

Dick Morris is predicting that the Democrats will pass the Republican version of the bailout, which most will view more favorably, and McCain "comes out of the process as the hero who made it happen." Dick Morris says "This bold move by McCain is about to work. Big time." I know, I know. It's Dick Morris. But I hope he is right.

Yes. He is a 22 year Senator who put country first. This will backfire on Obama.

You put a lot of weight in RAS and Gallup polling, why do you ignore Battleground? Because McCain is ahead there?

Good points.
I admit that “it’s over” was a overstatement on my part.

The Democrats know and seek the disaster that this bill will produce if passed and want the Republicans on board with it in order to blame them when it goes to hell and more government intervention is “required.” If the Democrats do it by themselves then they will lose the next elections that come after the thing blows up spectacularly.

Hey, the guy got Clinton reelected in 1996, after Bubba lost the House and Senate in 1994.

He knows politics, unlike RAS and Gallup, who are numbers guys.

but Morris is a flake, I agree.

If the Democrats can get the Bailout passed with the connivance of the Republicans then they think the country is on a fast track to Socialism, at least of the Euro variety. Without the Republicans to blame the ensuing disaster on the Democrats cannot stay in power past the next election and socialism is no good if they lose power in the process. Do not trust something the Democrats crave but will not pass without the Republicans. It means that they know it will produce disaster that will be glaringly obvious to the voters. They crave that disaster if they can pin it on the Republicans. With MSM they will.

I don’t put weight on any one poll. Instead I look at the trend of all of the polls and right now the trend is going the wrong way. Even the state polls are moving the wrong direction now.

The GOP has allowed the dems/MSM to frame this current situation and they’ve framed it so that McCain is the loser. You and I know the truth, but Joe Sixpack simply see’s what the MSM is showing him...that McCain’s move was a pure politic stunt. This is why the totality of the polls is moving away from him, PERIOD! If McCain has a good debate, he can turn it around, but he’s been on defense for nearly two weeks now which has impacted the race.

Are you telling me that you disagree with this? If so, please explain where I’m wrong.

I’ve stopped paying attention to the polls. I know Americans will do the right thing, barring voter fraud.

I don't know anyone who voted for Bush in 2004 that is going to vote for Obama

I do know democrats that voted for Kerry in 2004 that are NOT going to vote for Obama

“Does God take sides?”

God defines truth. We’re the ones who take sides.

"...That’s the disaster that is a Dem majority in both houses…"

What would happen if Sen. Joe Lieberman decided to switch to the Republican Party because of this crisis? Would that change the majority in the Senate and the accompanying Leadership and committee hierarchy?

If that could happen and a Republican version of the bill passed and the stock-market soared...well that would be one heck of an "October Surprise".

I note that the debates tonight are supposed to be about foreign policy. I wonder if McCain and Obama will stick to the topic.

That would be like debating flood control in the middle of a massive, killer drought.

Regardless of how this debate was billed, they won't be able to keep the economy out of it.

I hope Mac speaks directly to the camera and not Obambi or Lehrer. He should tell the straight truth about what happened at the WH, and by doing that in a Reaganesque manner he will be calling Obama a “liar” who is for the status quo and more of the same failed policies that brought us this mess in the first place.

The Democrats and Bush are all effectively Socialists. Bush claims to be a Conservative Keynesian. That would be a socialist who desires the economy to look like the market is its basis. I can’t believe he is a conscious socialist, he just thinks that the market cannot work without a small group of experts in the government turning the dials and pushing the buttons, making “adjustments.” Unfortunately many successful businessmen believe the same things, but what they are looking for is specific protection for their own businesses.

I hope Mac comes out swinging.

If he's got any of the info in this video, he'll do just fine. It's long, but worth the read. Keep a quick hand on the pause button.

In my opinion, this is the primary reason that GWB has a favoribility rating in the 30’s...

And the dirty little secret...

Congressional favorable rating is BELOW 20%!!!

The DOW was UP today...

And do you remember how, on Tuesday, we were being told that the economic world would be in complete crash and burn if the bailout was not finalized by today???

So much for Democrat prognostication. They're about as good predicting the future as I am at picking a winning fantasy football team each week.
