The Brilliance of McCain's Move
Rasmussen Reports ^ | Friday, September 26, 2008 | Dick Morris

Posted on 09/26/2008 1:55:20 PM PDT by TSchmereL

Dick Morris is predicting that the Democrats will pass the Republican version of the bailout, which most will view more favorably, and McCain "comes out of the process as the hero who made it happen." Dick Morris says "This bold move by McCain is about to work. Big time." I know, I know. It's Dick Morris. But I hope he is right.

I note that the debates tonight are supposed to be about foreign policy. I wonder if McCain and Obama will stick to the topic.

Well Nancy P and Barney F just told the press that McCain’s involvement was a disruption in the process and that they are now back on track. (Did anyone hear my head explode?)

No Way! Look at the posturing and politicizing from Obama, Frank, Reid, ... there is no way the Dems will allow public perception to be favorable to McCain, no way.

No Way! They’ll be talking about the economy no matter what Jim Lehrer says. Can’t wait to see this.

I don’t know if the Democrats will pass their bill without the Republicans. They could have done so already but have not. I guess we will see.

Obama and the democrats are now tied irrevocably to the unpopular Bush/Paulsen plan. McCain will come out great in this...if he sticks to his guns.

I suspect that Obama has been given the questions ahead of time so he already knows what to expect. He can then say what the focus groups want to hear.

Here’s my honest view… The Dems will NOT sign on board a GOP plan. Further, they will only sign onto their version with the explicit stipulation that they will not publicly be blamed for any of the mess that’s occurred over the years…

That’s the disaster that is a Dem majority in both houses…

Shows that elections have consequences, unfortunately…

They will also NOT give JM the honor of claiming a victory, not in a tight election, no way, no how.

He arrived in Washington to find the Democrats working with the Bush Administration to pass an unpopular $700 billion bailout. The Democrats had already cut their deal with Bush. The Dems agreed to the price tag while Bush agreed to special aid to families facing foreclosure, equity for the taxpayers, and limits on executive compensation. But no sooner had McCain arrived than he derailed the deal.
And McCain needs to really push this notion tonight, along with using the debate as a bully pulpit to take his and the House GOP's plan directly to the people.

McCain needs to take a firm stance against Bush on this, and put 0bama and the Democrats squarely on the side of Bush. He needs to turn the tables on 0bama, and turn 0bama into Bush.

McCain has been around the block. BarryBoy will not have his TelePrompter, so I think advantage to McScream.

"I join as a cosponsor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, S. 190, to underscore my support for quick passage of GSE regulatory reform legislation. If Congress does not act, American taxpayers will continue to be exposed to the enormous risk that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac pose to the housing market, the overall financial system, and the economy as a whole.

I urge my colleagues to support swift action on this GSE reform legislation." - John McCain on the floor of the US Senate in 2006

I'd love to see McCain open up by reading his own (above) words.

I saw him last night on Fox. I hope he’s right, but he seldom is and has NO inside scoop. I kind of think they’ll just pass their own bill, maybe, MAYBE drop the ACORN BS.

I hope the toe sucker is right but so far McCain looks to have characterized as the “loser” in this.

The script is always the same.... Dems/MSM attack the GOP and the GOP rolls over without any defense. In my opinion, this is the primary reason that GWB has a favoribility rating in the 30’s and Obama is leading McCain in the polls. The GOP needs to grow a pair or the story will never change.
