(CNN) Former Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said Friday the John McCain made a "huge mistake" by even floating the possibility he would not appear at the first presidential debate as planned.
You cant just say, World stop for a moment. Im going to cancel everything, Huckabee told the Associated Press Thursday.
Huckabee, who vied with McCain for the GOP presidential nomination long after it appeared McCain was the party's presumptive nominee, has been an on-and-off critic of the Arizona senator. Earlier this summer he took part in a Washington, DC rally calling on McCain and Obama to highlight more evangelical issues on the campaign trail. He also criticized McCain's campaign when it alleged Obama's "lipstick on a pig" comments was an intended slight at Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin.

Only a kool-aid drinker could see it the other way.
Never trusted this snake. He has covered for Obama whenever he can do so. He even praised Rev. Wright!
After tonight no one will remember.
Well, that settles it, McCain should listen to Huckabee because Huckabee has oh so much experience running campaigns and strategizing..... /sarc
I swear, these people have no shame.
He is a Fox Cable Show guy now. He is saying things like this to showboat his new show. He needs viewers. Im not watching or buying it.
Don’t you have to go boil a squirrel or something, Huckabee?
bttt
Mike Huckabee needs to keep his gigantic mouth shut.
There is an election at jeopardy here, and giving the Democrats and the media talking points is about as asinine as it gets.
Mike, if you can’t do better than this, I fear you’re going to destroy yourself on your new FoxNews show.
This statement was pitiful.
Huckabee is clueless as usual. McCain showed leadership and humility while Obama looked like a petulant child.
Shut the hell up huckster.
What mistake did McCain do. He got the focus on this situation. He is going to be at Debate tonight. Nothing lost in any way. The msm made this out to be a circus, not John McCain. Obama is the fool and so are the people who elect him into office.
The twerp actually thought he could win the nomination. Drop off the face of the earth you little worm.
Go back to Arkansas, HICK-a-bee, and take the redneck Clintons with you! You unwanted stepchildren of our Great South just got in the way during the “Late Unpleasentness” of the Civil War and haven’t been much help since...you, Bill and Hillary, Fulbright and Faubus are/were nothing but embarrassments to the South.
Yup...just what we need...Republicans trashing other Republicans on CNN. Good work guys...IDIOTS!
There’s a reason why this guy lost the nomination race.
this guy is and always was a spineless b@stard...only his kool aid drinkers did not see this...mcpain did the right thing here, and at the debate tonite, i would give a quick 2 minute speech, name names and make the accustions, excuse himself and go back to washington to work on this, and leave obama on live tv holding the bag.....
It was a bigger mistake for Huck to allow his boy to play with dogs unsupervised.
IMO Huckabee is mistaken, much like many of us here were. The polls will show if this was a good move or not.
