Couric Diminishes Gov. Palin

CBS New anchor Katie Couric ordered staff to drop all references to "Governor" or "Gov." from her interview with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. When a staff member pointed out that in other venues, Couric and CBS News had referred to Governor Palin's opponent, Joe Biden, using his title of "Senator" or the abbreviation, Couric, according to a CBS News editorial aide, sought approval from CBS News management to drop the "Governor" reference during her broadcast interview with Palin that began on Wednesday night.
"It's not true," said another CBS News source. "We treat everyone the same."
But, in fact, that's not the case: as late as September 22, CBS News and Couric -- even on the CBS website -- used Biden's honorific. Here is an excerpt from the transcript of a Couric interview with "Sen." Biden:

It’s self censorship in the form of political correctness. These people are in constant fear of what their management and their fans will think (well, we’d like to see them as thinking like us, they actually just react to symbols). So, if Katie had addressed Palin as “Governor”, she would be causing her audience to form an association between Palin and “executive experience” (which is something Obama doesn’t have).
In an interview several years back some other “journalist” kept addressing President Bush as “Mr. Bush” instead of “Mr. President”. Well everyone in TV Land knows that GWB is president, so what’s the point? Well it was about the reporter. Even to the point of being publicly rude to the president, this punk was afraid be seen as attaching any legitimacy to Bush’s “stolen” presidency.
A golfing friend of mine is a "journalist" for the local red rag. He is so blinded by hate for everything conservative that I don't even discuss politics during our weekly game. Neither do the rest of our foursome. He's maniacal about his liberalism. He is serious need of help. He's not a bad guy, but he needs an attitude adjustment.
I told this guy once that he's turning off at least half of his readers and he said he didn't care. He was the teller of truth and his message had to get out. That is sickness, self absorption, conceit, and arrogance.
You may be asking yourself, "why do you play golf with this guy". I do so enjoy taking his money, then I donate it to the RNC. Payback is a b!tch! The guy can't take being out driven by a man almost twice his age. It's all in the timing. He does power, I do finesse. He's a typical liberal.
“18 year old interns who couldn’t tell the difference between a Democrat and a socialist.”
There’s a difference? ;-)
I noticed Katie looked like a pimply faced teenager next to Governer Palin. Katie has really bad skin and it takes a ton of makeup to cover it. Governer Palin has a flawless complexion. I bet The Perky One felt totally inadequate next to her.
I have noticed they usually call President Bush just “Bush” or Mr. Bush. Another thing, and I have did some research on this, they never play “Hail to the Cheif” when he arrives for state functions. They always did for all the other presidents but not President Bush. Maybe he doesn’t like the song, I don’t know, but they never play it.
Governer Palin should have said at the start of the interview, you can just call me Governer Palin.
He has to. He has to show that they are not afraid of the enemy. Everytime the drivebys do this, the American people rally around Governer Palin.
It may be because local papers usually get their news from the AP. Our local paper is somewhat biassed but not as bad as the big city papers. But the really biassed articles come from the AP.
Maybe “The affable Eva Braun of television news”? to paraphrase Ann Coulter.
Now, isn’t THAT refreshing?! Thanks, Dennis!!
Thanks for the ping, ‘tho I intend to miss the interview, if I haven’t already.
You didn’t miss anything.
Katie had a sourpuss face on through the entire interview and Palin presented herself quite professionally considering the obvious hatred emanating from Katie.
Reminded me of how disrespectful Katie was to Dole.
