WASHINGTON - Sen. Ted Stevens was clueless about the cost and scope of a pricey makeover of his Alaska cabin that led to federal corruption charges and threatened his lengthy career, his lawyer said Thursday at the opening of his trial.

What a surprise! A “clueless” U.S. Senator? No, can’t be.

BS, if that's the case then he's too clueless to be in the US Senate.

What about an age limit for US Senators?

Say....80 years old?

Why the bashing of Ted Stevens? ANWAR would be a done deal if he had his way. He has been a reliable vote on most conservative causes. Like it or not, he is the Republican nominee for the Senate. Will the country be better off with a Democrat representing Alaska? Alaska is dark RED! If the Democrat wins its one step closer to a veto-proof majority. Find another target.

Sorry....I have a soap box about ALL US Senators that stay in office so long.

As for aging Republicans, I like to see them scoot over for a tougher generation of Republicans who will take on the MSM and the Dems, directly.

No offense, its just a complaint of mine:)

“He has been a reliable vote on most conservative causes.”

BS. Those of us who remember the Clinton impeachment trial, recall that Stevens was in no way shape or form conservative. And this isn’t even mentioning his big govt spendaholic tendencies which are rivaled only by a certain Senator from West Virginia. Finally, as another poster so aptly pointed out, if he’s too clueless to monitor his home, he has no business being in the US Senate.

I guess your right. Let’s throw our support to the DEMOCRAT. Harry Reid sends his thanks.

Stevens brings home the bacon, that’s about it. He has no desire to reduce pork spending. He isn’t pro-life. It’s a shame that we can’t find anyone better up here than him. No a higher rat majority would not be good, but having a real conservative republican would be nice.

I have never been able to understand that when these clowns are running for office they are the "the best and the brightest". But, when they get caught with their pants down they don't know sh*t from shinola.

Ya, that Rat TEd

witout him, there would be no F-22 flying right now, the C17 would be a dream and so on.

AS a Vet TEd supports the military, and as a vet, I support Ted.

Let’s let the trial finish before anyone gets hung, shall we?

Ever seen Ted's "cabin" in Girdwood

It wouldn't even make an outhouse on some of the congressional palaces I've seen in suburban Virginia.

LOL

It is modest even by Girwood standards.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of the trial - the Rat ads seem to have him convicted already...they (the Rats) don’t understand negative ads don’t work here and have damaged lil Markie because he has not tried to stop the garbage...guess that sez a lot about Mark - eh?

Looking at the composition of the DC jury I don't see much hope for him. I think he was screwed as soon as he lost his case to hold the trial here.

I am a Vet as well. I also live in Alaska. I have seen first hand the result of “Uncle Ted” bringing home the bacon on Ft. Wainwright, and Ft. Richardson. Doesn’t change a darn thing though, he has no thought about any reform at all, it’s only, what can I get on the taxpayer dime.

If the election is between a criminal and a democrat, what real difference IS there?

A fillibuster proof majority for Democrats. That’s all.
