Why are there lines and shortages in NC? Are they more directly impacted by the oil issues off the Texas coast than we are here in Michigan? Heck we’re the ones job and industry losses.
.....not enough and too small capacity terminals (tank depots) around Western NC.....
.....that's trickling down to Upstate SC (everybody up there coming down here to buy gas).....
.....Tanker delivery guys make more $ to deliver closer to terminals.....
.....just minor shortages because of Ike that are being magnified by panic....:(
There is no shortage in Texas and the price has dropped 10-15 cents since Ike. It was 3.69 before and today it's around 3.54 to 3.59. I've seen one or two down as low as 3.34. Family in the Beaumont and East Texas area say recovery is ahead of schedule.
Supposedly, we get our gas via pipelines, three I think, from the gulf. When Katrina hit the area, we ran out of gas. Now Ike hits and we run out of gas again.
Will someone explain the wisdom of concentrating our enery production in one vulnerable place?
And why are there no lines, shortages, or high prices in Pennsylvania?
Because different places mandate different gasoline blends. So if a hurricane disrupts Gulf refiners when they were about to brew a batch of your state's blend, then you are out of luck.
It would make too much sense for the state to suspend the requirements so that any state's blend could be sold in NC.
