I say we pardon him right after he’s executed. That way, we all win!

Personally, I think he should have been put to death.

“Frank Lindh said he believes his son did not go to Afghanistan in July 2001 to work against the United States, but in a misguided effort to help the Taliban establish their country”

I’m so sorry that the soldiers who “found” him had an error in judgment and didn’t shoot his sorry self!

The thing that even gets me more is the fact that this moron is given a platform by ANYONE to espouse this shiite to young skulls full of mush.

I guess he was never taught that actions have consequences and that there is such a thing as personal responsibility!

He already got his break...a plea bargain...something he never should have gotten to begin with. So Daddy Dearest, count your blessings that your son wasn’t killed with his comrades, and is still alive. Your sonny boy did not have the same consideration of the American Soldiers he was aiding to kill. Wonders how the Taliban would have handled a traitor?
Seems your son got off easy.

If it were up to me he'd be pushing up daises already. That being said, the very least he could do for the rest of his natural life is make small rocks out of big rocks at Leavenworth. He's as delusional as his old man. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

"He was accused by a government that failed to protect the U.S."

Dad, it's a pay to play sport for keeps. No do-overs. There is likely also a reality distortion field in operation in Marin County. Dad, check with the local authorities to see if you need a foil helmet.

"He was accused by a government that failed to protect the U.S."

Trashing the administration is not the smartest way of getting a Bush pardon.

I have no doubt that Lindh pursued Islam as a reaction his father pursuing homosexuality.

Ummmm no... this POS needs to have an “accident” when he does get out. This is one of Bush's greatest failures. Had they fried this turd, other lefties would have been put on notice... but they coddled the little ****. I say put him in the general population in his jail.

Traitors normally get death.
Why wasn’t this the case?

Actually, I wouldn’t be to sure about the. The Bush administration seems to be more favorably disposed to people who trash them, than allies. It worked for Kennedy, etc.

> U.S. troops in northern Afghanistan in 2001 illegitimately captured his son, known as an “American Taliban,” for fighting as a Taliban soldier just after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Those naughty American troops!

> Frank Lindh said he believes his son did not go to Afghanistan in July 2001 to work against the United States, but in a misguided effort to help the Taliban establish their country.

Lindh should be released from prison, after receiving twenty (20) strokes of the rotan across his bare arse, like they do in Singapore, with another twenty (20) strokes suspended sentence pending his good behavior for the rest of his misbegotten life. It’s more efficient and cost-effective, and the punishment fits the crime.

I suppose any father would take a run at it, but this story makes Frank sound like a nut.

During the sentencing he reportedly said he had no intentions of fighting against the U.S. and would not have joined the Taliban knowing what he knows now.

Well, this certainly makes it all better.

His father said his family is working a petition to urge President Bush to pardon his son's sentence because "he's not a criminal by any stretch of the imagination."

Criminal? Well, probably not in the felony sense of the word. What do they call you when you commit treason?

Frank Lindh told the group of students, many of which thanked him after he was finished speaking, "This is one case that has captured many of the values we really hold dear as a nation."

Let this thought dangle for a while, years maybe.

Apparently, I don't either.

The correct treatment for traitors and saboteurs is to be hanged.

20 years was a gift. He should have been executed for treason. In my book his father is a traitor as well for trying to get this Islamofacist pardoned.

Of course if Barack Obama is elected, I have little doubt he will issue the pardon on his first day in office, right after he signs the Freedom of Choice act.

During his time in Afghanistan, John Walker Lindh volunteered for a military funded by Osama bin Laden, known as the founder of Al-Qaeda, and had interactions with him but did not have anything to do with plans to attack the U.S., Frank Lindh said.

Frank, was your little "angel" charged with planning to attack the US? He was caught fighting against the US military on foreign soil. That makes him a traitor and that is how he was charged. THAT'S why he is now in prison.

As a father of four sons, I have to feel for the man but... it's time he faced reality and recognizes that he raised a traitor and his son should be hanged by the neck until dead, not pardoned.

He's very lucky to only have a 20 year sentence.
