UTICA, New York - A majority of likely voters nationwide think Democrat Barack Obama is more intelligent than Republican John McCain, and a plurality believes Obama will come out on top in Friday's first debate of the 2008 general election season, a new Zogby Interactive poll shows.

More than four out of 10 voters - 42% - said they think Obama will win the debate Friday, compared to 31% who said they think McCain will come out ahead on points. Another 27% said they are unsure who might win.

More clever, perhaps. But smarter? Hardly.

I definitely know who has more testicular fortitude.

This just tells you how skewed the sample selection is toward the Democrats.

They’re GLAD so few people saw Saddleback, so they can get away with stupid “polls” like this.

Most Americans didn’t see Saddleback.

Enough did that McCain began rising in the polls, while Obama's numbers began to crumble a bit. This was what took the wind from Obama's sails, before Sarah Palin was in the picture.

Perfect!

I want low expectations, then when McCain wipes the floor with Obama even the MSM can’t ignore it.

Good....Lower expectations means an easier win...Conversely, a higher level of expectations means its harder to win and the loss will be more disappointing.....Sounds good to me.

My only answer is because they aren't so smart themselves.

I think it's the MSM influence rather than stupidity on the public's part (hmm, is ignorance of the MSM's agenda studpidity?).

The media is doing it’s darndest to make you feel demoralized and hopeless, just as it always does at this time during elections.

Bingo. It's all about turnout and the MSM is trying their damnedest to suppress republican turnout by convincing people it's over.

What kind if ridiculous poll is this of an event that's not even occurred. Hey, why not produce a poll of how well Obama will do as president? I know the election has not occurred, but what the heck.

In my opinion, all of these polls showing positive things about Obama are rigged. I put no stock in them at all. Check the samples of those polled, and you will see it is always tilted toward the liberal democrat party, and conservatives are put at a disadvantage. As Rush Limbaugh often states, they are done to create news, not report it.

Will there even BE a debate Friday? There are more important issues at stake right now.

You know... people who only watch TV don't see the full picture. That's all I'll say for now.

That, my FRiend, is our biggest problem.

A majority of likely voters who regularly watch television with the sound off think Democrat Barack Obama is more intelligent than Republican John McCain...

Fixed it.

To many people, unfortunately, youth, clothes, vocal tones and preconceived notions based upon a culture of political correctness combine to create their definition of "intelligence".

Just look at Hollywood.

That’s EXACTLY what these unprecedented polls are about. If we’re savvy, we’ll know to just ignore them. They’re designed to be self-fulfilling.

The elitist mentality of the left makes me physically ill. The problem is that they mistake a snooty accent for intelligence. (Just as they did with John Kerry.) Plenty of brilliant people have a silly accent. By the same token, a snooty northern accent (”Pah-ki-stahn”) does not indicate any level of intelligence as much as it indicates where that person comes from.

Well, it looks as if McCain outsmarted both Zogby and Obama if he doesn’t show up and is seen taking care of his responsibilities in D.C. After all, that is what he was elected to do.
