I learned of FR while listening to conservative talk radio.

How Did You Discover Free Republic? My dad was a lurker a few years ago. Eventually, I turned 18, and later 21, and after Allen lost to Webb (barely) here, I finally got political and signed on.

I think it was on Rush’s show during the Clinton years. If you look me up- August 1998. I’m sure some big Clinton scandal was going on during that time. Lol

I was on some liberal site and they were bad-mouthing FR so I had to come and check it out....been here 10 years now :-)

Like many people, I stumbled upon FR a long time back during the Whitewater days from the Whitewater link on Drudge. Not much more to it than that. Didn't like Clinton. I had my own Clinton Joke-of-the-Day page that was mildly popular for 1996-2000, when the Web was young.
At some point later on, I registered (twice, I think, because everything got redone back in 98, if I remember right).

Kinda ran across it by accident one day about 3 or 4 years ago but didn’t post much... glad I ran across it though

I found out about FR through the now-defunct Strategic Investment site, run by James Dale Davidson. It was in '98 or so.

In October of 2000, having left my job as a commercial truck driver, I began taking courses for Microsoft network certifications.
The instructor gave us the URL for a discussion forum one evening: www.freerepublic.com. I began lurking, all through the fiasco of the 2000 election cycle.
In April of 2001, I signed up formally. Spent some time over at Lucianne, but have been here ever since.
You probably recall Sarge’s Daily Report in the Canteen during my deployment to Iraq in 2005-06. Hard to think that so much time has already passed!

I didn’t know what a blog or an online community was.
Immeadiately after the fiasco 2000 election (I was already an absolute political newshound) I heard about a group holding court outside of Al Gore’s mansion and they were chanting: “GET OUT OF CHENEY’S HOUSE!”
They were called FReepers!
I thought, I don’t know what this is all about, but this group is for me.
It took me a spell to learn the ropes. In fact, I’m still learnig.

I saw Drudge on Arm Forces TV when I was in Brendisi, Italy working for NIMA in 1998. I went to the Drudge Report and found the link.

The Power Of Patience
The fruit of the Spirit is . . . longsuffering. Galatians 5:22
Weve all heard the prayer: Lord, make me more patientand do it now!
Why is it that patience evaporates when we are late for a critical engagement and are caught in a traffic jam? Or we rush to the 10 items or less line at the store, only to find someone in front of us with 16 items!
Being forced to wait ratchets up the stress and shortens our fuse. When that happens, we not only fail to be patient but we undercut the Spirits work in our lives.
Patience is not just a virtue, its a fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22)which means that demonstrations of impatience reveal the sour fruit of our fallen hearts rather than the sweetness of Jesus in our lives. Since God is a patient God, when we abandon patience we miss the opportunity to show our world the glory of God through our lives.
Bursts of impatience only demonstrate that we are more concerned with our own agendas than the needs and struggles of others. So lets all take a deep breath and turn our focus away from ourselves by patiently loving others instead of ourselves in the midst of stress.
Patience gives us the privilege of sharing the refreshing fruit of God with others.
Our wrath uncurbed will not fulfill
Gods perfect plan for us;
We must be patient and refuse
To fret, to fume, to fuss. Sper
