BREAKING NEWS: Obama Accepts Bush Invitation To Meet In Washington

With extraordinary stakes on the line, President Bush has invited both presidential candidates and the leaders of the House and Senate to the White House on Thursday in hopes of securing a bill to rescue the economy.

Bush took the unusual step Wednesday night of calling Democratic Sen. Barack Obama directly to invite him to the meeting, White House press secretary Dana Perino said. An Obama spokesman said the senator would attend. The White House has also invited Republican Sen. John McCain.

Perino said the goal of the session is to make progress -- fast -- on a bipartisan solution to the biggest economic crisis in decades.

She said the call between Bush and Obama lasted several minutes and was "a good conversation."

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said the Democratic presidential contender "will continue to work in a bipartisan spirit and do whatever is necessary to come up with a final solution."

The move by Bush came just a short time before he was to address the nation about the financial crisis.

Obama'll will be like SpongeBob when he, SpongeBob that is, was taking his boating license road test and Patrick was back at the pineapple feeding ol' Spongy the answers via walkie-talkie.

'Cept it'll be Axelrod instead of Patrick!

The crisis is one of confidence in the credit market. If some kind of deal is not struck, credit goes kaplooey. Even billionaires won’t get a loan for a car. It IS that serious.

Yahoo headline right now --Jennifer Loven, no less:

Bush adopts McCain's recommendation and calls for meeting of candidates and Congressional leaders

Obama has been told to report to the principal's office. Heh heh.

Would it look worse if Obama wasn’t invited? (you don’t have to answer...I have not decided if the President’s move was good or bad for John McCain/the country)

Should Obama Campaign use the phrase "final solution?"

It will only get worse if McCain is not elected. The bail out is needed to save the economy. The problem is the democrats are already supporting the bill, so McCain is the only one needed to pass the legislation.

After Obambi said he would continue to campaign as usual and prepare for the debate, he's going to Washington! The man-child is out of his depth!

A gentleman tried earlier today to have him act like a candidate for the highest office in the country; but Barack chose instead to act the class clown while the adults were focused on important things.

And then the top grownup caught him acting the fool. Now little Barry has been called to the principal's office.

What a boob.

Not quite. Obama says, "If they need me, they can call me." President Bush called his bluff. Now he looks like he was called to the woodshed.

My guess is the call went something like this:

President Bush: Hello Senator Obama, this is the President.

The One: Wassup whitey?

President Bush: Just to let you know, I'm addressing the American people this evening. I have two versions of my speech, one in which I say you are missing in action during a time of crisis, while John McCain put his country first, and another in which I thank both candidates for coming back to Washington. You can pick which one I say.

The One: Whatchoo talkin' bout Willis?

President Bush: Good day, Barry.

Maybe Obambi should bring his sidekick, Joe Six-Pack, so there will be double the amount of gaffes.

Obambi is sure to look like an out-of-place neophyte there with his empty rhetoric and absence of fresh ideas.

In fact, he doesn’t even know how the financial markets work. He’s admitted as much!

So WTF does Obambi have to bring to the table??? ZERO!!!

“If you need me, call me.” Looks like the President called his bluff! HAHAHA!

"Uh, Senator Obama, if it's not too much trouble, could you stop by the White House and give us a hand in trying to prevent the sequel to the Great Depression?"

"I know you're having fun out there giving speeches and stuff but..."

Obama was foolish to refuse to go to Washington .
He looks even more foolish because he suddenly decides to return after being sweet talked by President Bush,
the Democrats biggest boogey man.
The ads are writing themselves.

Speaking of statesmanship, we have to hand it to BUSH for taking the high road with Obambi and reaching out to that worthless POS in this case.

After all the mean $hit Obambi has said about Bush, it’s no wonder Bush doesn’t spit in his face.

So.....he said he wouldn't....claimed "I called him First!"......and then said he would not meet with McCain in the Senate (WHICH IS HIS FRICKIN JOB FOR WHICH HE GETS PAID BIG BUCKS!)

But now, wants to parachute in and be "part of the solution" now that he knows both parties are going to give a HUGE Socialist bailout to these institutions?

Does this remind anyone else of the time on the last season of the west wing when Bartlett calls Vinick and Santos to his office to brief on a long-term deployment of soldiers.

Just sayin'
