With all the news focused on the economy and the Presidents speech tonight, you may have missed the big news from Iraq:
The country that was once on the brink of civil war,
The country that defeatist Democrats like Harry Reid wrote off as lost,
The country that Senator Joe Biden wanted to divide into three ethnic-based regions (video from September 8, 2008Biden brags: My plan to partition Iraq is working.)
That same country UNITED PEACEFULLY today to overwhelmingly pass a Provincial Election Law that will allow new elections to take place between now and January 31, 2009. The law will also give Iraqis more freedom in choosing their representatives.
President Bush congratulated the Iraqi Parliament for reaching this milestone in becoming a self-sustained democracy (Transcript)
Today's action demonstrates the ability of Iraq's leaders to work together for the good of the Iraqi people and represents further progress on political reconciliation. I congratulate the members of the Iraqi Council of Representatives for coming together to pass this significant legislation.
In other news, President Bush discussed free trade with Western Hemisphere leaders today at the Council of the Americas in New York City. (Transcript) and met with President Tony Saca of El Salvador (Transcript)
The President returned to the White House this afternoon where he will deliver a televised statement on the economy tonight at 9pm EST.
Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Gov. Sarah Palin was also in New York City today meeting with the leaders of Iraq, Pakistan, India and the Ukraine.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
P. S.

THANK YOU,SILENT ONE!!!!!for the BIG PURPLE HELLO & TEXT!!!!!

I tried posting that book reading bear for W F W, to You, but when I got back to post it I too, discovered that “everything went nuts on FR” & I couldn’t post it then.
I do hope our posts come back etc...
Thankfully, FReepmail & pages are fine.
I'll give you a hint: It's another celebrity who was arrested for drunk driving--but in his case, the arrest was video-taped. It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen! But there's no photo of it, so I would have to do my best with some reference photos and my imagination :)
Woo!Hoo! Days off...Enjoy ‘em!
I am too (except her heels; I'd break my neck in them ;-). I've wondered what her formal will look like for the inaugural ball. I bet it will be lovely.
THAT will be a stunning sight!
Thanks for the Dose.
Thank God for this stable and wonderful man we call President! It is beyond me why his approval numbers are low. My theory is that the left seeks to destroy President Bush so they run polls only in far-left focus areas. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it.
What joy that Iraq was to come together in unity for the upcoming election. Amazing! So much IS working in Iraq that the MSM is ignoring, and as such, many Americans are unaware. We need to share this information with passion!
What a neat picture. :o)
Love these.
The world rests upon his shoulders - Lord, lift the burden, give President Bush hope and strength to carry out what and where you lead. <><
Are those smiles I see from the Secret Service? I can imagine they are. :o)
I have a couple vintage Ann Taylor suits. I’m wanting to slip back into them. This will of course require a loss of weight. Need to anyway but now have greater confidence to actually get it done. Hopefully by January 20 I’ll be there! :o)
Wow! I still have no clue. I’m going to have to put my googling talents to the test today and try and find out who it is!
