John McCain exemplifies the concept of Country First. I don't think that anyone in this country seriously believes that the debate in Mississippi is more important to our nation than the debate in Washington on the recovery plan.
Obama has again displayed his aloof and arrogant attitude in his statement "Call me if you need me". He either assumes he has nothing new to offer or that his time as a candidate is more important than his responsibilities as a lawmaker.
In this case, he's not even there to vote "not present". In doing so, he forfeits any opportunity to criticize the outcome, which is the outcome he will have to potentially deal with as president. Knowing Obama, however, he will find fault in the outcome and blame others, while somehow hoping to remain above the fray.
If Obama is truly as ready to lead as he claims to be, what better opportunity to return to Washington and lead the Senate to a comprehensive solution? Action is not what Barack Obama is about. True to his "community organizer" roots, he's an aggitator with no real solutions in hand, just a lot of empty words and hype.
So, America, who is better equipped to take on our economic problems? By his own inaction, it is CLEARLY not Barack Obama.
By the way, Senator Obama, when you come back to the senate with your tail between your legs, don't forget your portable teleprompter. I hope they've composed some inspirational rhetoric for you.
“Country First” is an excellent motto for politicians, given that their jobs consist primarily in stealing money from particular people to give away to other particular people. There really isn’t anyone around to care about the economy as a whole.
As for me, personally, I’d rather die than put my country before myself.
Absolutely correct. BHO’s initial response shows he puts country second, and his own ambitions first.

Jim Ross: "Wait just a minute here! That's not John McCain's music. That's.....that's.....MY GAAAAWD. It's SARAH PALIN!!" as Sarah comes running down the aisle, the stadium speakers booming "Redneck Woman" by Gretchen Wilson.
[Camera shot of Obama and "The Lovely Michelle" climbing up through the crowd and fleeing in terror out the emergency exit doors]
The debate, in Congress, that McCain wants to be part of is not the debate Obama’s handlers have prepared him for - THAT’s THE PROBLEMO IN A KENYAN NUTSHELL!!!!!!!!
Not saying that the debate shouldn’t be postponed, but Oxford is a tiny college town, and the work and expense, that they have put into this event is enormous.
Send Palin to the debates.
BHO can’t go to Washington because he does not know what to do!!!
I imagine they put as much work into preparing for the debate as they would for an Ole Miss game, on any given weekend. Oxford will be fine.
As a vet I disagree with your sentiment, but it reminded me of a famous quote.
I hate the idea of causes, and if I had to choose between betraying my country and betraying my friend, I hope I should have the guts to betray my country
E. M. Forster
“As a vet I disagree with your sentiment”
If I was ever drafted (which is unlikely to happen since I’ve passed 25 by already), I’d serve. My hope is I’d be able to kill people without sacrificing myself, but I understand most things are out of my control.
The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his. General George S. Patton
