LONDON (Reuters) - The U.S. Navy said on Wednesday it appeared pirates had tried to attack one of its big military oil tankers.

A security team aboard the vessel opened fire on two small boats near Somalia after they ignored warnings and pursued the ship, a U.S. Fifth Fleet spokesman said.

"From all appearances it does look like it was a pirate attack and the incident is currently under investigation," he said by telephone from Bahrain.

He said the Military Sealift Command (MSC) oil tanker, the John Lenthall, which usually carries a range of fuels for the U.S. armed forces, was transiting outside Somalia's territorial waters when the incident took place.

Exactly what I was thinking...these are nothing but terrorist Muslims...Jefferson dealt with them by dispatching them to Paradise, Allah and their 72 Virgins ... BTW has anyone asked if the virgins will be women? I’ve wondered how that could be since women are supposed to separate from the men in Paradise, taking care of the children and reading the Koran!

You’d figure they’d have at least a couple 25mm auto-cannon mounts on each side.

It wasn't the Welcome Wagon. But they don't like prey that shoots back. I say double the security detachments, run up the holiday colors and let them know who they're making a run on. I doubt it will become a habit.

Somalia’s been a festering sore since Clinton screwed the pooch there in the ‘90’s...it’s going to have to be dealt with by someone, and that means the US..the Euros aint going to do it.

What is a Bofor?

The Bofors gun was a twin-barrelled antiaircraft gun of WW2 vintage, made by the Bofors company of Sweden, I believe. Well-known piece of ordinance which still sees service to this day, in some smaller militaries...

Kill the natives and then open it up to ‘40-acres and a mule’.

That colonized America... and look at us now - we’re the best nation on Earth!

Think of how much better we’ll be with a new territory ready for colonization.

I wonder where exactly they were. When my ship was patrolling off the east Somali coast a few years ago we had to go pretty far back north to get fuel. No oilers came down to us. Of course they may have changed their SOP since then, or the oiler was off the north shore of Somalia in the Gulf of Aden.

From all appearances it does look like it was a pirate attack...

What appearances? Did the captain have a wooden leg and a parrot on his shoulder? Was there a damsel in distress in a basket at the top of the mast? Did they have a map with an "X" on it?

Real Americans rise to the event at hand in a heartbeat. If in doubt, remember Flight 93.

No, but the skiff captain did sleep in a Holiday Inn last night...

We have SEALs and SF in Djibouti, along with French SF. IMHO, this might have been a deliberate “Q ship” op, using a heavily armed ship that gave an outward appearance of being a merchie.

I’m not saying they sent the ship there for that purpose, but perhaps it was in transit anyway, and some clever frogman thought.....hmmmm....lets hunt over some bait.

Somebody else missed a dandy opportunity!

Mahmud! Hassan! Look my brothers, the infidels are removing the coverings from their tractors....AIIIIEEEE!

Tractors.
