I smell some desperate trolls!

The news that Obama WAS ever so slightly gaining in the polls and poll questions like:

Who do you trust more on the economy...?

WHo is at fault...?

HOW can McCain overcome the last 8 years of Bush...?

ALL THOSE stories just got lost FOREVER, as NOW virtually ALL the news is following the next leader of the free world and how he’s handling a crisis, DEMONSTRATING that he indeed puts the country above politics, even suspending the debate which was clearly going to be about HIS strongest area: national security/foregin policy.

A secondary story would be will the manchild follow his future next president back to DC where he’ll mark ‘present’ somewhere or something.

Bambi’s been blindsided.

Again.

He’ll either look weak as nothing more than a follower...

OR a typical hypocrat that could give a crap less about the country and puts his own interests first.

It’ll be absolutely AMAZING to watch liberal heads explode over the next week over this!

As Rush said McBRILLIANT!

The president is speaking tonight at 9pm so the sniveling liberal drive bys won’t exactly be able to downplay the crisis angle.

How the MSM will spin it: McCain, frazzled by the economic downturn, will suspend campaigning to stay in Washington with his Republican friends and also to try and help George Bush muddle through the options. McCain has also requested that Friday’s debates be suspended, a move sources say is really an attempt to stave off exhaustion from the campaign. At his age, is it all becoming too much?

I agree. He might be winning with freepers, but the news media is going to spin this story (IF TRUE) like crazy.

I agree! Obama will look bad if he doesn’t agree, but is going to be ticked that it wasn’t his idea. He’s going to look like a follower and McCain a leader.

Nice move!

I agree - well considered.

Fence sitters will see this move by McCain in a positive light. If Obama whines about the fact that he had the idea first then he will look like a child. This was a smart move and stopped the Obama momentum. I think it will all be worked out by Friday and the debate will go on. It will be a win win for McCain.

This is stupid. McCain just he admitted he can't do two things at once.

Worse, he gives the opposition an opening to spread the meme that he's too old to juggle multiple simultaneous problems.

McCain goes public, then Obama says, “It was our idea first.” This makes Obama look like, well, a big giant weenie. And his claim is completely unprovable.

Stupid?

Obama just reversed course, and will delay debate after all.

“My bets are the teleprompter beats Obama in the debate.
I hear the teleprompter supports a federal capital gains tax holiday. I am interested to hear its proposal.”

Aren’t you concerned about it’s DUI back in the 80’s?

Obama sent out a release saying he called McCain this morning at 8am, asking that both campaigns issue a press release, jointly, laying out conditions for a bailout.

McCain came back with suspending his campaign to go back to DC and work on the economic bailout.

SOOOOO it comes down too, which would the people rather have, a person who issues press releases or a person who acts on an issue.

Obama should debate Biden. They can talk about coal, gun control, the vote on the Iraq war, inappropriate political ads, etc.

Actually, that'd be a brilliant retort for JM. If Hussein complains, JM can simply suggest "He could always debate his VP candidate, they seem to have some differences to work out..."

McCain can come back at him by renewing his offer to debate him at town hall meetings.

> McCain is a genius, he knows how to run a campaign.

I don’t know.

Looks like he’s chickening out, to me.

Voting with the majority (the bailout will pass above any and all objections) does not look too brave.

Leadership. Something Obambi is sorely lacking in.

My reaction has been much like yours. Could be a game-changer.

Dems will spin this as McCain ducking debates. they better be ready to re-introduce the “let’s have ten town hall meetings” request.

I ask myself: is Obama happy or unhappy McCain made this request? Very unhappy, I’d say!

Many Repub don;t like the Dem's deal.

We have all had many, many problems with John McCain. But this, folks, is called leadership.
