Economic Fears Give Obama Clear Lead Over McCain in Poll

Turmoil in the financial industry and growing pessimism about the economy have altered the shape of the presidential race, giving Democratic nominee Barack Obama the first clear lead of the general-election campaign over Republican John McCain, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News national poll. Just 9 percent of those surveyed rated the economy as good or excellent, the first time that number has been in single digits since the days just before the 1992 election.

Just 14 percent said the country is heading in the right direction, equaling the record low on that question in polls dating back to 1973. More voters trust Obama to deal with the economy, and he currently has a big edge as the candidate who is more in tune with the economic problems Americans now face.

He also has a double-digit advantage on handling the current problems on Wall Street, and as a result, there has been a rise in his overall support. The poll found that, among likely voters, Obama now leads McCain by 52 percent to 43 percent.

I'm pretty confident that McCain is ahead by more than what the polls show in OH. Someone reminded me last night that in most polls, Ken Blackwell (who is black) was running 5-10 points behind Strickland. In the election, he lost by 25. Now, that's the Wilder Effect, pure and simple, and it will definitely hurt Obama here and probably some in PA and MI. McCain has led in 5 of the last 8 polls here in OH. So I'm almost ready to call it safe. Same in FL.

I am worried about Co and VA. But I differ on what McCain "needs." All he needs is for Barry to talk without a teleprompter and people run for the hills.

Oh, and one more little side-note here.

The Chinese seem to lean to the left side of the political
spectrum. But I’ve not heard OR heard OF ANY Chinese that has
expressed any inkling of support for Obozo!

So, yes, the polls are VERY skewed to support the MARXIST
Obozo ... as is USUAL in the media when it comes to trying
to give THEIR guy every advantage to get him/her elected!

So make sure to vote for McCain-Palin and get your friends,
family and acquaintences that support them do the same !!!

(Oh! And tell the MARXIST lovers that this year that
the Republicans vote on Tuesday November 4th, and that the
Democrats get to vote on WEDNESDAY, November 5th - DON’T
BE LATE !!!). LOL!!!

“but I think it is up to McCain to rightfully tie Fannie Mae to Obama and his inaction during the debates.”

I don’t think many Americans have the intelligence or attention span to make the connection even if it is explained to them. I am NOT optimistic.

"Ask fifty people at random who is at fault for the financial crisis, and they’re going to blame Bush.”"

Well, consider the fact that many hold Bush personally responsible for high gasoline prices so his buddies in the oil business can get richer.

The level of ignorance in America is frightening, and I am not optimistic.
