Here's Why the Press Hates Sarah Palin (Andrea Mitchell gives it away)
MSNBC via YouTube ^ | 09/24/2008 | RightFighter

Watching tonight's Rachel Maddow show on MSNBC (opposition research), I noticed an interesting exchange between the host and Andrea Mitchell. Of course we all know that both of these gals are in the tank for Obama, and they were having a typical lib discussion of the "Palin Press Dodge", as the headline called it, at the United Nations today. Of particular interest to me was Andrea Mitchell's response to this question (exchange begins at around the 2:24 mark of the video - this transcript picks up at the 2:40 mark):

Maddow: ...Is today's burst of attention sort of a culmination of a long simmering poor relationship between the press and the McCain and Palin campaign, or is this a brand new fight just sparked by this one confrontation today?

Mitchell: Well, it's a trend, and it is a trend that I don't think the press will necessarily win, because they have made us the issue, and so far, uh, whenever it's the media versus Sarah Palin, the popularity, the, you know, the reach of Sarah Palin over our heads, around us, is what really resonates, mostly with the voters. That's certainly what we've been seeing out on the trail.

I believe that THIS is why so many members of the mainstream, old guard press have it in for Sarah Palin. They are seeing that she has the ability to be a transcendant politician who speaks directly to the people and can't be successfully filtered by the media. The only politician I've ever known of who had that kind of power is laying in a peaceful grave in California overlooking Simi Valley. The media CANNOT and WILL NOT sit idly by while another "Great Communicator" rises from nowhere and makes them irrelevant.

Since there will invariably be someone who can't figure out how to get to the video from the link in the title area, HERE IT IS.

Seems to me, if memory serves, that a chap named Reagan did the same thing, LOTS of times.

Sod off, Andrea.

Why would Freepers watch MSNBC anyway? All you can succeed in doing is making it appear they have more viewers. That said, Palin’s reaction to the Press is one of many reasons she is popular with real Americans.

Hooray for the bully pulpit!

Have you noticed that even Bill O’Reilly criticizes Palin for being sheltered. What’s it been, like four weeks? Give her some time.

By the way, the “frame” of Palin vs. the Press (as perceived by the Press) has shifted from:

“Quick, learn as many of the bumpkin’s dark secrets as you can,” to:

“McCain whines about media malpractice, even though this is what all candidates have to go through, and all the while he’s obfuscating and prevaricating to avoid revealing the truth.”

The MSM thinks of itself as conducting a perpetual official investigation, and anyone who does not defer to them is guilty of obstruction of justice...just like Scooter Libby! See, McCain is another Bush!

Of course you can't discount the obvious, non-political answer: Andrea Mitchell is an aging, dried-up husk. And she just hates Sarah for that.

It goes a lot deeper than that. She is a successful woman who is unashamedly pro-life to her core. She says it, and does it.

That causes guilt to well up inside the pro-abortion Leftist. They have no choice but to lash out at her for that. She must be wrong, in order for them to relieve themselves of their guilt.

Thank you for posting the transcript of the pertinent remarks. I have a dial-up connection and YouTube videos take forever to load. That plus the fact that with YouTube, there is no written record.

I think what you say makes a lot of sense. Sarah takes away their power. How they denigrate her....I even have heard her education slammed and ironically her degree is in journalism. Hah!

right on the money RF. the bleeding heart commie MSM is powerless to stop the Saracuda tidal wave, even though they are throwing everything at her, and it is driving them bonkers. great to see their frustration and pettiness and as it continues more and more fence sitters and younger Americans are starting to see just how sick liberalism is.

Since I'm up at 2:30AM for some reason posting new threads, I just wanted to throw a few of my designs out there from my web store ISupportSarah.com

I'd appreciate any ideas any of you might have for new designs. Everything in my store is my own original work, but I can always use new ideas.

Ever consider that the MSM is actually mad because they are being shutout of one of the greatest political stories in our history. They may have it in for her, but I think they are getting tired of Oshama too. He really is an empty suit and Gov Palin is an attractive alternative. I think Mac Sarah should let the press in but they should call them out whenever they try get out of line right in front of all to see. It might have its advantages. I’d love to see her field dress anderson cooper and blitzer.

Excellent post!

It is critical that the McCain camp keep Palin far away from all these Democrat “mainstream” media scumbags. As long as these fuming little mice are forced to peck at Sarah from a distance, her Teflon is impenetrable. Screw them all.

The mainstream media basically committed suicide by their treatment of Sarah Palin. It didn’t have to be that way.

The media could have kept on going, being lopsidedly liberal, slanting news in the Democrats’ favor, and no one would have raised an eyebrow.

But, by crossing the line into outright dirty campaigning for Obama, and using the full weight of their broadcast reach to smear our candidates, they have shown all of America (and the world) their true underbelly, and their blatant partisanship.

They won’t easily win back what little trust the American people still had in them. They’ve only hastened their ongoing slide into irrelevance and oblivion.

This whole scandal with the media caused me to wonder today, why our side can’t find the money to put together a television network that simply practices straight journalism. Fox was supposed to be that network, but they’ve fallen far short of our early expectations.

We need a news company that will go the distance with real integrity. I mean a network that doesn’t bend to the political correctness of allowing liberal views, or any of their spin. I mean a network that tells it like Free Republic. The Free Republic Network. Now, there’s a concept.
