I am a mother of four who works more than full time while raising four children in a joint effort with my husband. There has been much criticism of Gov. Sarah Palin for daring to have a family, to work and to appear on Sen. John McCain's ticket. The focus should be on her record and her abilities.
Sens. Barack Obama and Joe Biden have at least espoused that Gov. Palin's family is off limits. Why then do their supporters and the liberal news media feel a need to bash Gov. Palin's family choices? Do those choices challenge the left-wing feminist ideal?
My bet is that these are the same people who did not condemn President Clinton for the Lewinsky scandal while he was in the White House.
An opinion expressed on this page recently was that any woman choosing to have a family cannot at the same time expect to work in a competitive, high-pressure job or in politics. I suppose this could be called the "Audacity of Motherhood."
Motherhood first and career later? I thought the feminist mantra was career first, family later! Or was it, you can have both? Apparently "choice" is fine as long as it is the one the feminist left approves of. Family values apparently include killing the unborn as a matter of convenience, embarrassment or where one has advanced in her career.
This lamenting over Gov. Palin's children raises other questions. Do people think fathers are unable to take care of their children or that their role is not equally important? Does anyone seriously believe that Sarah Palin is abandoning her children by volunteering to serve her country? Has anyone asked anything similar about Sen. Obama and his children? Doesn't his wife work?
People are critical of Gov. Palin's choice to bring a beautiful special-needs child into the world and also say that she then ruins his life ("emotionally scars him") by having the "audacity to work." At least the child has a "life" and is obviously loved and well taken care of by many people, including -- most importantly -- his mother and father. Do you remember "It Takes A Village"? So much for privacy in one's choices.
This leads to a necessary comment about judgments concerning Gov. Palin's pregnant daughter. She was already in the spotlight as the governor's daughter. I bet that most of us see pregnant teenagers regularly. However, Gov. Palin's daughter is marrying the father of her child, and while starting her family younger than most of us would advise, she is choosing life over killing her baby. It is not the end of the world. In fact, I would bet that her child also will be well loved and looked after.
According to the argument posed, apparently this child, too, would be better off aborted than to risk any emotional scars due to a mother (not father) or grandmother working.
According to some, embarrassment from being in the public eye, or having a less than perfect child, should heavily weigh in favor of hiding or ending a pregnancy. Abortion should never be based on fear, embarrassment or inconvenience, especially when there are so many potential loving adoptive parents available.
Gov. Palin is an excellent role model and should be congratulated on her choices and for her commitment to life, her family and our country.
Gov. Palin developed her political career on her own merits with the goal of public service, not lofty political aspirations or "naked ambition," as some have claimed, and she has more executive experience than the current candidates for President and vice president. We will be well served by having a real woman, one who understands the pressures of work and family, as vice president of our country.

Nice read!
So they claim.
PING!
Bullseye.
Have any of you made note that one of the family is always holding Trig instead of carrying him in a carryall. After thinking on it, I believe it is a way to let the baby know he is very loved and protected as they travel around. Also, maybe to make Gov. Palin's point about helping and loving special needs children.

excellent read. Thanks for the heads up, mate.
In fact, Obama's wife "brought home the bacon" before Obama become a senator. For all Obama has done in his year in the senate, his record of voting "present", He still can and probably does stay home most of the time, when he isn't busy scheming with Bill Ayers. What are Obama's qualifications that make him a suitable candidate for POTUS again? Community organizing? plotting against the nation? Receiving racially charged guidance from his close friend and mentor of over 20 years, Rev. Wright? Hardly.
Selfish working mothers trying to justify their own child neglect.
As a conservative voter, I respect Gov. Palin’s political principles and record of putting them into practice. Enough with the identity politics!

It ain’t braggin’ if you can do it. :) Go, Sarah! Go!
Do you think this bugs the Lefty Women so much because they spend most of their lives playing ‘the victim’ and are too busy nursing (indoctrinated) hurt feelings to actually GET ‘ER DONE? ;)
Yep. I've also been waiting for the MSM to notice as well..."Child Abuse Scandal! Trig Palin fails to walk at early age due to being over-carried! Film at 11!!"
