Democrat Takes 52-43 Lead Among Likely Voters, Erases Republican's Post-Palin Pick Gains
Barack Obama has seized the reins of economic discontent, vaulting over John McCain's convention gains by persuading voters he both better understands their economic troubles and can better address them.
In a head-to-head-match-up he's now supported by 52 percent of likely voters vs. McCain's 43 percent, the first significant advantage for either candidate among likely voters in ABC/Post polls.
Add third-party candidates Ralph Nader and Bob Barr and it's essentially the same, 51-43 percent.
The contest has shifted from a 49-47 percent McCain-Obama race immediately after the Republican convention.
McCain's bounce -- on individual issues and attributes as well as in overall preference -- is gone.

As always, the devil is in the details.
These findings totally contradict all other polls. Even in polls that are close, voters by a large marigin picked McCain on these issues.
Polls should be given the same scrutiny as “news”. When they come from a known enemy like ABC, they should be given double scrutiny, I read the whole poll, it doesn’t pass the sniff test.
The media sees the economy as an OPPORTUNITY to show Obama ahead and influence thought, in this window, expect heavily cooked polls like this.
I think his(McCain’s) idea of doing well is bashing the Republicans and enthroning the Democrats. Perhaps he can mention Cuomo again.
First numbers are Obama, second McCain.
Read the details, and it is amazing. Obama now has the lead on who best to handle the war in Iraq!
What is Obama’s economic plan? Raise taxes. That’s it.
If this poll is true, we are in serious trouble as a country.
With Obama as president, and a democratic congress, we will be back in the stone age in 4 years.
Did anything change while I was taking it seriously?
“Democrat Takes 52-43 Lead Among DEMOCRAT Likely Voters,”
there, fixed it
Yes it was. WaPo is a wholly owned subsidiary of the DNC.

BTW I will do the standard quoting procedure. Perhaps Italics will be used next time.
“11 point bounce in 2 weeks? I somehow doubt the electorate is this fickle.”
My bad it is 11 points. But as I have said this is on the Economy. I have heard, constantly, from the MSM how the Public trusts Democrats better on anything economical.
“Yes, the economic meltdown has dominated the news. But what exactly has Obama done so great to demonstrate his superior economic skills during this crisis? Nothing, NADA.”
Supposedly it doesn’t matter. Anytime something bad financially may happen and fears occur, the Party out of office will get some extra bennies. It doesn’t matter that I had no idea what Obama thought about the bail-out or that Obama has so many shady ties. I hate to tell some, but I honestly think that if there is a strategy it was to pick somebody who has ties to a domestic terrorist, a race-baiter, constant campaign staff members who have to be fired for unsavory associations or for being Anti-Israel/Anti-Semitic that they may have thought of something as that might all be old news right now. Hopefully Franklin Raines and the rest will be treated just like William Ayers and the Rev. Wright were treated.
Punch on the button enough times and nobody will ignore it anymore.
“I have followed elections very closely since 1980. And polling since 2000. I have never seen polls bounce around like they are this year.
If their goal is to depress folks, it may work.”
The problem is that this sprig may vanish. I did read a poll, I also think that RCP has changed its old poll, that stated that McCain is coming back up on average. If McCain can present himself as a reformer, and crusader against corrupt practices in business and government(as he said in the Convention speech) he will probably rise up again on this level of candidate polling. It will not be easy by MSM trends but the difference is that McCain, even in Obama’s messages on earmarks, can be seen as somebody with a not-so-hypocritical economic record.
Just for the fun of it, Rasmussen should come out with a poll tomorrow showing McCain 10 points ahead! LOL! The polls are all over the place anyway.

That’s the dead giveaway in the poll. Even when the polls were close, Obama was getting crushed on the Iraq and crisis issues.
It’s not a poll, it’s PROPAGANDA.

Just for fun, I thought I’d check to see if this article had made it to the MSN News page.
Yup...it’s already up in the front page main headlines.
Unbelievable. “Bias” doesn’t do it justice.
Who cares, it’s a highly skewed “AB-CCCP” popular vote poll, not an electoral college poll. Whether Obambi wins NY, CA and Illinois by 10% or by 50% makes no difference.

I truly know the MSM is biased. But the folks in the newsrooms do not do their polls. They pay some polling organization to do it. Do you really think the MSM groups go to these polling companies and say I want you to do a poll and skew the results?
Again, I am a true believer that the MSM is in the tank for Obama. But taking it to this level of conspiracy is hard for even me to believe.
When you look at poll internals, these are not what we have seen. So maybe it is an outlier. And the state polls seem to still be trending McCain’s way pretty much. And other non-polling info tend to tell us that McCain must be doing good. Why would he open 50 office in California if their internal polls were like this? The enthusiasm on the trail; the number of people showing up at rallies, all indicate McCain/Palin are doing great.
Obama is literally saying nothing. Except coming out a couple of days after McCain, and just parroting what McCain has already said. Biden is an absolute gaffe a day. He and Obama are openly arguing.
Just find this hard to believe knowing all I do about what is really going on, and where the candidates are focusing.
I read that going into the republican convention that the candidates internal polls showed McCain up by double digits. What is right?
