I truly know the MSM is biased. But the folks in the newsrooms do not do their polls. They pay some polling organization to do it. Do you really think the MSM groups go to these polling companies and say I want you to do a poll and skew the results?
Again, I am a true believer that the MSM is in the tank for Obama. But taking it to this level of conspiracy is hard for even me to believe.
When you look at poll internals, these are not what we have seen. So maybe it is an outlier. And the state polls seem to still be trending McCain’s way pretty much. And other non-polling info tend to tell us that McCain must be doing good. Why would he open 50 office in California if their internal polls were like this? The enthusiasm on the trail; the number of people showing up at rallies, all indicate McCain/Palin are doing great.
Obama is literally saying nothing. Except coming out a couple of days after McCain, and just parroting what McCain has already said. Biden is an absolute gaffe a day. He and Obama are openly arguing.
Just find this hard to believe knowing all I do about what is really going on, and where the candidates are focusing.
I read that going into the republican convention that the candidates internal polls showed McCain up by double digits. What is right?

Both campaigns internal polls are the BEST money can buy, they need to know where they stand, not propaganda. Obama pulling out of states, campaigning in traditional blue states and McCain opening 50 offices in California tells you more than ANY poll. No matter if our guy is up by 10 or down by 10. Look at what the campaigns are doing and they will tell you what the polls are. Obama is losing, and not by a small margin.
Yes, but the editors in those newsrooms decide which polling firms do their polls and if they like a polling firm that gets them results to help them lead their news with, they’ll use them. They are no different than polls the DNC or the RNC will take to get a desired outcome.
Again, the samples in this poll are crap. The fact that Obama is getting close or higher numbers than McCain in issues that McCain owns by wide margins in other polls should have led the polling director for ABC/Washington Compost to call their pollster and say “this poll is trash and run it again.” But they probably kept this poll so they could make the big news in the morning knowing other polls will be coming out soon. I bet NBC/Wall Street Journal will have their poll out tomorrow because they usually have it out for Thursday’s jouranl. ABC just wants to be a part of the 24 hour newscycle and make a splash with it.
It's real simple. They ask the pollster to assume a certain division of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, and then weight the poll accordingly. That's what happened here. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge of data from recent Presidential elections can spot right away that this poll way oversampled Democrats and Independents relative to Republicans. Any sample where the spread is more than 4 points (such as the 10 point spread here) should be treated as invalid as not representative of the actual voting population.
Why do they do this? Why, to help Obama! This is not a trick question. They take full advantage of public ignorance regarding polling methodology to create a skewed poll, and then use that poll to drive their headlines. They hope to excite Obama's voters and discourage McCain's voters. They do it in every election cycle, using the same tired trick of oversampling Democrats.
I regard media polls as essentially worthless. I trust the Rasmussen and Gallup tracking polls precisely because they are not working for a media client with its own invariably leftist political agenda. Not that these two polls are perfect, but they are nonpartisan, upfront with their respective polling methodologies, and seem to care more about being accurate than pleasing one side or the other.
