MD And DE Work To Monitor Global Warming
WMDT ^ | 9/23/2008

Posted on 09/23/2008 6:50:17 PM PDT by markomalley

A group of 10 states, including Maryland and Delaware, are taking steps to monitor global warming. The coalition is called the "Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative."

They'll conduct the nation's first carbon auction. The auction would put limits on carbon dioxide emissions from utility plants and make them pay for each ton of pollutants. The auction is set for September 25.

make them pay for each ton of pollutants=higher utility rates on consumers and pollutants still go into air

Brilliant!

I predict an increase in power sales to Delaware, Maryland and eight other states from power plants located in the other 40 states.

MD and DE = Dumb and Dumber.

This is the biggest scam ever to be foisted on the American public. Get Real, it is the money, not the environment, that brings these scumbag lawyers out of the ooze.

This sounds like the same logic used in the current financial crisis. Seeing that our system may not be crushed low enough to welcome socialism the liberals are pushing round 2. Republicans NEED to push the story of who created the financial mess and tie it directly to the effects of the liberal energy plan (and maybe health care.) The only way to stop this insanity is to shine a HUGE light on it and spell it all out in a way publicly educated people will easily understand. Things like this will be the first chapter in the story of the death of the union. Thank goodness I am in a red state.

I don’t know who may be pulling the strings in DE, but that state is full of ex-Old Liners, who have retired and escaped this state and are wary of getting soaked by their state with more taxes.

Here in MD, we pretty much expect to be screwed, but Delaware’s John Q. Taxpayer will probably let their state government know to stay out of their pocket.

This also includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

(Gov. Mitt Romney pulled Massachusetts out of this, but after he was out of office, Gov. Deval Patrick put them back in.)

Pennsylvania and DC are “observers.”

I shall call the increase in electricity prices due to this carbon-rationing scheme the Cogitator Tax.

They'll conduct the nation's first carbon auction.

There is an interstate regulatory free-for-all going on. MD, DE..., CA and the rest of the left coast states negotiating with Canadian Provinces....

Is this even constitutional? I can see it will become expensive because every one of these "save the world" initiatives comes with a tax or fee attached.

I really don't appreciate that. I don't think I deserve it, either. I've been techno-first, controls-second for years. And I agree with the Republican "All of the Above" position. A lot of good that does me.

Jokes are OK. Just don't take my name in vain.

(This phrase was first found on one of the notes God put on a Post-It while composing the Ten Commandments.)
