Constitution Party of Illinois News

Dear Constitutionalists,

I just received some VERY significant and important news.  Dr. Ron Paul has just officially endorsed Constitution Party Candidate for President, Chuck Baldwin.

"I’ve thought about the unsolicited advice from the Libertarian Party candidate, and he has convinced me to reject my neutral stance in the November election.   I’m supporting Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party candidate."

-- Ron Paul

This is, quite frankly, the first bit of good news that I've heard in a while and what a huge bit it is ! ! ! !  Below is the statement just released from the Constitution Party National Headquarters regarding the endorsement.  The news release includes the link to the article on the "Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty" website, where you can find his endorsement.

Yours in Liberty,

Constitution Party’s Chuck Baldwin Set To Dent ‘Big Box’ Candidates

Grand Rapids, MI (September 22, 2008) Former GOP presidential candidate, Texas Congressman Ron Paul announced today he is endorsing Constitution Party presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin. http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog/?p=582#more-582)

In a letter to supporters, Paul wrote, “I’m supporting Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party candidate.”

Paul went on to say, “There is no real choice between the two major parties and their nominees, only the rhetoric varies.  The amazingly long campaign is designed to make sure the real issues are ignored.”

Baldwin, a conservative commentator, columnist and pastor of a church in Pensacola, FL, campaigned for Ron Paul during the congressman’s run for president. After receiving Paul’s endorsement, Baldwin said, “I am humbled and deeply grateful to Dr. Paul for his support. There could not be higher praise. I am committed to carrying on the Ron Paul Revolution for a return to constitutionally limited government.

The Constitution Party, is poised to offer voters a viable alternative to the two parties now controlling our government.

Baldwin noted, “Ron Paul’s message resonated with people across the political spectrum. Likewise, our campaign embraces Americans of diverse political ideologies, spiritual paths and socio-economic groups - all who recognize the urgency of a return to the Constitution and the principles of personal liberty that document defines.”

Baldwin, appearing recently on CNN’s Lou Dobb’s Tonight program was told by Dobbs:  (Baldwin’s view on immigration reform issues) was “a good reason to vote for you, I like that reason." (Click here for a transcript , and here for a YouTube clip of the show.)

Baldwin appeared at a recent Washington DC press conference with Congressman Ron Paul. Paul spoke about the need to bypass the two major party candidates this November and instead vote for a candidate such as Chuck Baldwin.  See YouTube clip HERE.)

Like Paul, Baldwin has taken a stand against unconstitutional foreign intervention, such as the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Both Baldwin and Paul have called for  abolishing the IRS and the Federal Reserve, have spoken out against the recent financial “bailouts” and against unauthorized trade “agreements” such as NAFTA and  GATT.

Chuck Baldwin supports Congressman Ron Paul’s ‘Sanctity of Life legislation’,(H.R. 2597) opposing abortion, has received an ‘A’ rating from Gun Owners of America and an “excellent” grade from pro-secure borders group Numbers USA .

Isn’t Baldwin a fierce anti-Catholic?

Being Owned by Chuckey Baldwin is akin to being trumped by a kindergartner. I’ve heard the lesser of two evil’s argument, but this seems to be the evil of several lessers. Barr, Baldwin, McKinney, Nader.. the fruits and nuts on the tree of politics.

Chuck and BoBarr are interchangeable. So it makes no difference.

I'm not a Chuck Baldwin supporter but I am on the CP mailing list. Just thought I'd share this little tidbit with freepers. I find it hilarious -- Barr tried to get Paul's endorsement by offering him second place on the ticket and it had the opposite effect. (Barr should have known better, Paul's ego shows that he will NEVER play second fiddle on a ticket)

Poor Bob Barr, now he's thrown his running mate under the bus, and has nothing to show for it.

Guess he didn't "vet" Wayne Allyn Root enough.

Chuck and BoBarr are interchangeable

Unless, of course, you consider the actual issues and their positions.

The Palin choice has once again sucked well-meaning conservatives into supporting the socialist agenda of McCain and the Republican party. But Paul's support does provide hope for an increased turnout for the Constitution Party, which may set the stage for bigger and better things in 2012 and beyond. We have a long road yet before we can even put the brakes on socialism, but Paul's popularity and the persistence of the CP does provide potential traction to begin turning things around.

OMG!

This is Hugh and series!

It will shift the balance!

It’s a whole new ball game!

I expect a full .0025 point swing from Barr to, um,...

Who was that again?

>> Chuck and BoBarr are interchangeable <<

Care to point me to some links where Chuck has endorsed amnesty for illegals, gay marriage, gorebull warming, and the status quo on abortion, as Barr has done ever since he sold his soul to the Losertarians?

I'm no Chuck Baldwin cheerleader (due to his anti-war stand) -- say what you want about him -- but at least he's consistant in the values he champions, unlike sellout Bob Barr has done. Baldwin didn't join the CP overnite and abandon all his past beliefs.

I just think it's great that Barr is getting his butt handed to him after he sold conservatives down the river.

Good news for Baldwin...considering Paul is more along the ideological lines of Bob Barr and the Libertarians

Although I do not concure w Baldwin on Iraq and (esp) Afghanistan...Baldwin is much better on national security issues than Obama and McCain (who are both open borders/pro-illegal liberals).

Also, Baldwin understands real economics better than the others, being against NAFTA and Free Trade (the real reasons for the upcoming bailout...nutty globalism).

If you are pro-open borders...you are not in favor of national security...an undisputable fact.

WOW!!! earth shattering news (extreme sarcasm).

An irrelevant loser endorsing another irrelevant loser and snubbing a third irrelevant loser.

FALCON will supplant the useless Constitution Party for the return to Reagan conservatism by 2012.

BFD
He could have endoresed McCain-Palin, but didn’t.
And so, so his endorsing Baldwin is really a boost for Oblama.
And, voting for a Constitution Party candidate is a vote for Oblama.
Why?
Well, there ain’t gonna be any RATS voting for a Con Party candidate, just disgruntled Republicans and Independents.
So go ahead and support Ron Paul’s endorsed candidate.
But remember, you are really voting for Oblama.
Even if you say you are not - that you are just voting “your conscience” - you are really voting for Barak Hussein Obama.

It’s too bad really. The Libertarian Party might gain some traction some day when they stop picking whack jobs as their standard bearers. Maybe they should just merge with the Green Party and run on the “Hey us Fringe Kooks Need Love Too” platform.

Thank you for your well-thought out and interesting post.

I lack the eloquence to be so concise in the midst of all the “Staged Moon Landing” crowd in here telling me what a “conservative John McCain is”. Yeeeech.

I am now convinced that all along, it was the Ron Paul opponents and critics who are mentally disturbed. I am sure they are happy with the 700...800...whatever billion bailout.

RPs endorsement of Baldwin was a great boost to the CP. Couped with the downright socialist bailout being proposed, this should help Baldwin and the CP in this election and future ones
