Is sleeping alone a recipe for marriage success, disaster, or somewhere in between? I wondered about this after reading a recent article on the growing trend of married couples sleeping alone. Whether separate beds hurts a relationship depends on why the couple uses them...

marriage bed(s) ping
A small, but important ping list.
Heck yes! The best part of being an empty nester is having my own room. My husband gets up at 4 AM every morning to go to work and support me. This way he gets a good nights sleep, as do I. He snores. I have my own annoying bedtime habits. We are much happier now that we have our own rooms.
My wife and I sleep in seperate rooms only when I snore or she is angry with me or she has a headache or her mother is in town or my dog is panting too loud or the tv is too loud or on a channel she doesn’t want to see or ......
My wife and I have been apart for about 2 weeks in over 20 years....we still luvs each other ;)
Based on extensive personal experience, I’d say it’s not good...
It seemed to work for Ricky and Lucy, Dick and Laura, Ozzie and Harriet...
My Marine and I only sleep apart if he is working out of town - no way I’d ever choose to sleep without him beside me. He snores occasionally and I nudge him, he rolls over and snoring ends. He falsely claims I occasionally “snorkle”, which of course is a misconception on his part, which I will forgive him for eventually. ;^)
Is Sleeping Apart Healthy for Marriage?....depends on whom you are sleeping apart with..........
LOL...thats cute.
It was not optimal.
My Mom and Dad slept all over the house. The couch, the bedrooms, the dining room in front of the window AC. A tradition I proudly carry on. I sometimes can’t sleep in my own bed. So I crash on the couch, EZboy or make a spread in front of the TV. Working night shifts also makes the marriage bedroom somewhat obsolete.
Only on nights when he has oversampled the baked beans. He gets gas so bad he could make an onion cry.
I clothes pin my husband’s nose with my thumb and index finger. He will knock my hand away and turn over by himself. I started that after he kept complaining of “sore ribs”
I’ve been sleeping in my own room for almost 10 years now - yep, still single.
Wait a minute. You mean some people sleep together?!
Chappaqua: Old Indian word meaning "Land of Seperate Bedrooms"
There’s a Rodney Daingerfield joke in there somewhere.
I’ve noticed that if I fall asleep in the living room chair that 4 or 5 hours leaves me feeling much more awake and refreshed than 6 or 7 hours in bed. I think it does have to do with bed movement, spouse movement, etc. That being said I don’t think I’d ever make it a habit or have separate rooms. It’s just nice to have private time together. What may be an option is two double beds pushed together. That would solve most sleep issues I would think.
