Roberta Achtenberg of Clinton's HUD launched investigations of citizens of Berkeley, Calif. who had opposed HUD proposals with letter-writing, pamphleteering or other forms of peaceful protest.
Achtenberg ordered the protesters to turn over diaries, phone messages and other personal papers.
Berkeley? Street rabble? No. Homeowners who opposed a HUD proposal of housing for the poor smack-dab in the middle of their neighborhood.
She threatened to fine the protesters $50,000 but relented citing their First Amendment right to free speech.
Who told Achtenberg about our pesky Constitution?
If memory serves a federal judge did -- and the judge cleared the way for Ms Achtenberg herself, personally, to be held accountable and open to legal action. Again if memory serves Ms Achtenberg hightailed it back to San Francisco leaving her "brilliant" federal career behind.

It could well be. I mean, it’s hard to understand how someone can get to a position like Biden has, and hold it for over three decades, and then say so many blatantly stupid things so frequently as Biden says. It could well all be orchestrated to make the way open to kick Biden off the ticket, and then put Clinton on, if she goes for that. She made clear that she wasn’t interested in being his Veep. There’s so much stunting going on in the Democrat sewers, there’s just no knowing. It sure can’t be discounted. And the fact of just how awesome Palin is and their total failure to try and create a scandal out of thin air to destroy her just makes it even scarier to them I believe.

My wife’s grandparents can’t stand Obama and they’re lifetime hard core Democrats, but they’re also Christians, and his extreme liberalism was too much for them to handle. They’re two of the last people I’d ever expect to not vote Democrat. And Obama can’t win without people like them, lifetime hard core Democrats, who voted against Reagan both times. And the two of them I believe could well be the rule, not the exception.
I keep thinking of the SNL Skit with Perot and Stockdale when Perot was trying to get rid of Stockdale by leaving him on the side of the road. I can see it now, “Remember when you said that thing about Roosevelt going on television in 1929? Now that was world class.”
