Palin, McCain Disagree on Causes of Global Warming
Washington Post ^

Posted on 09/22/2008 7:55:37 PM PDT by Chet 99

No one, including Gov. Sarah Palin, questions that Alaska's climate is changing more rapidly than any other state's. But her skepticism about the causes and what needs to be done to address the consequences stands in sharp contrast to the views of her running mate, Sen. John McCain, and place her to the right of the Bush administration and several other Republican governors.

Although Palin established a sub-cabinet to deal with climate change issues a year ago, she has focused on how to adapt to global warming rather than how to combat it, and she has publicly questioned scientists' near-consensus that human activity plays a role in the rising temperatures.

To paraphrase Engels: the point is not to understand the weather, but to change it. What is the state of Weather Changing Technology (WCT) and how much would it cost to advance the state of the art? Is there a cost-effective, safe way to dissipate the energy in a hurricane so our Gulf Coast is not a perennial disaster area? If the trend is global cooling or global warming, how can we reverse it? If I were Pres, I would convene 20 or 30 real physicists and engineers (I would exclude all “global warming” “experts”) to discuss these issues.

I’m tired of this election and I don’t like what’s happening to my country.

I'm tired of the little guy getting reemed all the time. The taxpayers are going to have to pick up the tab on a bunch of crooks that lined their pockets. The little guy that lived within their means and didn't go out and finance extravagant homes that they couldn't afford gets to bail out businesses that deliberately gave loans to people knowing said people would default.

if there’s no problem then people won’t buy “green.” They’ll go back to SUV’s.

The disconnect from reality is breathtaking....

They are still bantering the term “Global Warming”... even as records indicate this year has been among the coolest in many years. And completely ignores the trend over the last few years.... Lower temps.

Global CO2 levels are still on the increase... but temps going down... hmmm...

“We must fight the global concern that is all of our oceans draining off the edge of the Flat Earth!!!”

When all that water that's draining off the edge hits the sun and extinguishes it earth is done for!

If Alaska has become warmer in recent years, it is only because the Governor is so hot.

If we want Sarah Palin, we have to elect McCain/Palin and look beyond McCain

I'm a 71 year old man with cardiac disease, and if McCain/Palin aren't elected this time I hope and pray to Almighty God that He will allow me to hang on long enough to see Sarah Palin inaugurated as the first female President of the USA in 2013.

Although I'm not usually one to derive pleasure from another person's suffering, I would make an exception for watching Hillary, Bill, and Obama trying to appear respectful and emotionally subdued for the TV cameras as Sarah is being sworn into office by Chief Justice Roberts.

Exactly. The enviro-weenies don’t want solutions. If they did, we’d be going nuclear as fast as possible. They want total and complete destruction of the capitalist system and eventual reversion to middle-ages peonage for everyone except themselves and their elite friends. The new feudalism where they rule redneck, unenlightened serfs. Only problem is, long before that happens the serfs are going to line them up and blow the vacuum they call brains right out of their skulls.

"if there’s no problem then people won’t buy “green.” They’ll go back to SUV’s."

Hate to break it to you, but I NEED my "SUV" sized vehicle to haul my crap around in. Buying anything "green" is a waste of money and environmental resources to build the useless thing, because it can't serve my needs

Come to think of it, those "green" vehicles aren't really "green' at all. They cause more net enviromental damage to build than a hummer, and last 1/3 as long.

So, you aren't really saving the planet, nor are you saving any money, long or short term.

or is part of the cyclical nature of our planet regardless of that,................... John McCain and I agree that we gotta do something about it.”

Huh??

Now that statement is very disappointing to this Sarah admirer. If global warming is part of the cyclical nature of our planet, exactly what "something" will Sarah and McCain do to reverse it?

I question it. In fact, I deny it. The statement is complete BS from the first word to the last.

The Stalinist Left talks of a “Red Scare” (that even noted authors like George Orwell warned about), but truly the Global Warming Scare is FALSE ALARMISM.

This issue really gets me riled up.

Dennis Miller had a meteorologist on today (think it was a rerun) that said all of the buoys in the ocean indicate that since 2000, we are in a COOLING period.

McCain really needs to STFU, he’s got the election in the bag if he can stop trying to out liberal Øbama.

Sh said “we gotta do something about it,” not “we have to reverse it.”

As far as I am concerned the “something” we “gotta do about it” could be “buy a kayak,” or “build a sun porch on the cabin” for example.

Reminds me of a joke about a woman who was aboard a flight and sneezing uncontrollably. It wasn't one minute after she'd sneeze and contort violently that she would wipe her nose and sneeze again.

A concerned fellow traveler asked her about it. She said that every time she sneezed she got an “intense pleasurable feeling”. He asked her what she was taking for it and she said “Ground black pepper”.

What makes me laugh is watching these leftist retards marching around with picket signs protesting the loss of their jobs when the truck plant closes down, yet in their other hand holding a political sign supporting the green party and envirowacko-ism.

These brainwashed unionists are truly brain dead.

To hear the ecofreaks spin it, the winds eminating from the wings of a butterfly across the globe have impact on our weather. IF we could succeed in dissipating hurricanes, what would be the impact to the weather? Would we understand the full implication of our action?

If we could have such control, what would the "optimal" temperature be? Would we still have our seasons? Would more northern climes demand a longer growing season? And what about when there was a "glitch" and some Asiatic nation is flooded by a tsunami (or would we ever be able to prove that we did NOT cause an environmental disaster)?
