Uncharacteristically low turnout for Barack Obama rally in Green Bay, Wisc.
McCain/Palin drew 4,000 more supporters at same venue a week ago

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Hoping to shore up support in his suddenly undependable backyard, Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama flew here Monday to talk about how he’d handle economic crises as president.
Recent polls have shown that Wisconsin — once pretty solidly in Obama’s column — is now a statistical dead heat between Obama and Republican John McCain.
“You all know that you hold this election in your hands,” Sen. Russ Feingold, a Democrat who said he worked on ethics legislation with Obama, told a crowd of about 6,000 cheering Obama fans in the arena next to Lambeau Field. “We just barely won this state for Al Gore in 2000 and we just barely won this state for John Kerry in 2004.”
The numbers in Wisconsin and Minnesota are getting close enough that the Obama campaign closed its 11 campaign offices in North Dakota and moved the 50 staffers there to these two states.
Just a week ago, John McCain and his vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin — who can bring out crowds the way Obama can — appeared in this same stadium, Resch Center, to a crowd of 10,000 fans. There were an uncharacteristic amount of empty orange seats for Obama’s rally.

The debates will be a turning point.
I was very strongly against McCain until I got a chance to see him in person during an unscripted event. McCain is very fast on his feet during these events and appears far younger than he is.
Take away Obama’s telepropter and McCain will make Obama look weak and young.
That’s because 10,000 of his followers didn’t get the 3AM text message about where to be and what to do. The RObamaites let him down. The new plan is to let the media take on this responsibility.
If your assessment is true, why doesn’t Real Clear Politics use ARG? I’m not questioning your numbers, I was just wondering why they don’t use it.

I firmly agree. My take was that Obama cannot grow brain cells or completely change the way he “thinks on his feet” in just a few months.
This means he will be dog chow at the debates. That is, unless their is media fraud, which would be hard to hide.
I saw Obama earlier today when the cable news networks carried his speech, and one could see by the frown on his face he was not pleased with the turnout to his own rally, while yesterday Gov. Palin alone attracted over 60,000 + in Florida.
Because these polls are using registered voters from the primaries and Operation Chaos screwed up there old formulas

It’s Monday, So I’m guessing lots of people have to work. The ancestries of Green Bay are: German (35.0%), Polish (9.8%), Irish (9.4%), French (6.0%), Dutch (4.7%), English (4.6%). Sure looks like they will lose Wisconsin this time around. Obama was up in the polls in July 51.50 to 40.30, now all McCain has to do is bring Sarah the Barracuda to Green Bay and it’s over.
Here’s what might be different. Wisconsin can be very apolitical (which allows dems to win more often here) We do not get interested until someone like Obama comes along - that we want to vote against. Normally in our offices you will know your liberals, they talk politics as a solution for eveything, and most people in appearing polite nod at their endlessly boring chatter. This time, the long silent apoliticals, distrusting the messiah - now spend an fair share of their watercooler time discussing his negatives openly, and the liberal agenda and media bias as well. What I’m hearing is that the silent majority is refusing to back down out of mere politeness. In my office, where we work side by side with a Liberal member of the Dane County Board (all progressive, all the time, super obamacratic) we have for months tuned him out, and share good stories about the candidates - or bad stuff we’ve picked up (in my case from FR) on the opposition. In sharing that info, we each have discovered networks of clients and friends we’d never know are also doing this. The e-mail chains are substantial, and interest is widespread. What else can it be? We do not like to confront “Os” people who knock on our doors, as we’re still and all polite, and not wanting to be seen as reactionaries - and do not want our lawns ruined with chemicals or worse. When people used to talk about a silent majority that could be counted on to do the right thing and vote against a terrible opposition - then that’s what we do. We’re really not too upbeat about some of the things McCain says and wish he’d gather up some facts and just repeat them day after day, instead of trying to create an alphabet soup of youtube messages. I prefer a candidate that can handle several salient facts without struggling with their brand. Am I a conservative? I’m a fiscal conservative. Am I pro life? I’m pro life. Do I want a strong economy? Yes. Will I remove waste? Yes. Where will I start? I’ll start with the door next to mine and go to every agency and branch and get an accounting and then I’ll cut. The best has been Govenor Palin. A fantastic choice to get the forgotten and neglected flyovers to take notice. My only worry is don’t turn her into a Republicrat - let her be her own message.
I think the internal polls are saying something different. Thus the candidates are responding. Florida, Wis, PA, OH, CO MI I think are all showing wins in reach of either candidate and that’s why they’re going there.
I think Obama has peaked and we will see his numbers start to fade here going into the first debate even or with McCain slightly ahead.
I mean how can you have 20,000 turn out in VA and then 60,000 + in FL and 11,000 in CO and the same in MI and not see some movement in the polls?
I admit...I like it when John McCain is leading in the polls. But even then I don't trust the polls.
Oh I hate to embarrass you TN, but the Packer fans would have been at Lambert Field, not Lambeau... ;^)
Political pollsters, like epidemiologists, are people who read "How to Lie with Statistics" and took it as a field manual.
Or maybe, they just under sample Republicans because we all went to see Sarah at the rally.
Folks who are still in love with Obama are not going to change their minds. But he is not going to draw any new supporters. There is just nothing new to bring them to his side. If he couldn’t sway them with his early speeches then they probably won’t vote for him. I think that current fence sitters will go with McCain/Palin or just stay home on election day. If McCain and Palin do well at the debates (no matter what the MSM may report) then McCain will win. Just my opinion.
Three things that stand out the most here....He is toast, Landslide win and he can’t debate. NONSENSE!! Please folks don’t blind yourselves to these fibs. I think OZERO did fairly good in the debates against the SHE-DEVIL and the rest of the losers. Remember the mediaPUKES are going after McCain and not their messiah so watch for the Emperor OZERO to come out looking good after the debate with all the mediaPRESSITUTE raving about his intellegence etc.... BE READY for a disgustful mediaDEMON love-feast calling the debate for the BIG ZERO. Better take a XANAX that evening!
LOL! I was like that on election night in 2000. I was up all night...what a nail-biting night it was! I couldn't believe what was transpiring that night...I was online and glued to the t.v. at the same time. I remember all the votes coming in the wee hours of the morning, with the totals for GWB and AG getting closer and closer...talk about scary! At one point, GWB's lead was down to 200+ votes! Yikes! But at no point did his total ever go below AG's. And thank goodness it didn't. What a night! Will never forget it...don't ever want to repeat it!
I was polled by Gallup last Thursday evening. They asked who
I would be voting for right at the beginning of the call, and
when I said I’d be voting for McCain/Palin, she said, “Okay, that’s all of the political questions.” She went on to ask questions like, “Tell me the number of days in the last seven
days that you ate five servings of fruits or vegetables.”
Seriously.
More like people still depressed over the ass-kicking the Cowboys gave us.
