On last nights Saturday Night Live, there was an eight minute clip that focused on the NY Times coverage of Sarah Palin.
The skit addressed a fictional meeting where the Peter Conolly Assignment Editor of the NY Times explains his plans to send 50 reporters to Alaska, to dig dirt on the Palins.
The media may try to play this off as SNL bringing up the topic of incest in the Palin household. The real story is that SNL framed the NY Times and it's staff for precisely what kind of tactics they have used against the Palins so far. The management and the reporters for the times were skewered here, and it was amazingly over the top.
Folks, this was a great skit. You'll have to see it to believe it, and I have posted the 8:04 minute clip on YouTube for you to see.
Enjoy.
What made me laugh was how the audience sounded dumbfounded by the skit. They didn’t laugh all that much, and for those that did, some of it sounded like nervous laughter.
It’s safe to say that most people who attend SNL tapings are leftist, and this audience in particular probably got the joke that this skit was slamming the metrosexuals and elites of the NYT. I’m guessing most of them were offended by the skit for daring to slam the NYT in particular and smarmy metrosexuals in general.
Given that the reporter speaking about Alaska was the normal and authoritative character in the skit, and given that he was appalled by the freak-like, out-of-touch nature of the other reporters, this skit was clearly mocking the NYT.
It was my time among the hyper-excesses of the left that woke me up as well.
Your n & n are sure to be having a good time, learning a lot and gaining in confidence. Maybe—even if the effect is delayed by a couple of years—it’ll open their eyes too. (Though the percentages may not be with them—those are both tough industries not be locked in step with!)
Probably was a pretty accurate portrayal of the effeminate, perverted, ignoramuses that pass as “journalists” at the New York Times.
Obviously, SNL does not hurt the MSM/DNC, since they are winning.
And obviously, SNL mocking Republicans for decades as rubes, white trash, racists, stupid, taliban-like, etc., does WORK.
So why are we laughing? To show how sophisticated we are?
Oh gee...we can laugh at ourselves...don't we deserve a pat on the back?
Very funny. Funny because it is so close to reality.
Wow, I can not believe that SNL ridiculed the NYTimes this way. Spot on and hilarious!! Thanks for making this post, the other thread was like Bizaro world. Did any of those freepers even watch this skit or simply freak when they heard it mentioned incest? Its an attack on the Times folks, watch the skit before commenting next time.
Watching the video, I would say that it was the NY Times' bottom of the gutter, sexist political whisper campaign that was being roasted. I thought it was funny.
I noticed that as well.
I saw the other thread about this. I don’t know what got into SNL, but this is all a huge, huge slam of the press, and NYC culture in general.
I honestly can’t see how this is anti-Palin.
Before I watch this clip, I just want to be sure of one thing — Can polar bears sense my watching a video that makes reference to them?
The only funny skit last night.
But you could tell by the tittering laughter that it was a hard one for the NYC audience to swallow.
Probably not, but lightning certainly can! :-)
I don’t defend SNL for most of it’s stuff. We all know it’s a leftist haven. The eight minute skit was a very frank skewer of the NY Times, it’s reporters, and even the Pulitzer group.
The reporters were shown to be people who would sue for sexual harassment at the drop of a hat, going through sex changes, unable to drive a stick shift, unlicensed to even drive a car, unable to identify a shotgun, unable to identify a snowmobile, seldom leaving Manhattan... one of them was even name Carl Marx.
When a guy asked if there were psychologists in Alaska and found out that there weren’t, he and half the fifty reporters refused to go to Alaska. When it was stated that there were no support facilities for those going through sex changes, three quarters of the rest of the reporters refused to go.
When two of the five remaining reporters found out that there was no Thai take out, they also decided not to go.
This was a hilarious roast. You should be glad that SNL would put something like this on. It’s a great step in the right direction.
All this skewering of the reporters came after the NY Times Assignment Editor describing them as the fifty top reporters in the nation.
I’m telling you, this is eight minutes worth watching. You couldn’t have done a better job on this skit if you had been given full editorial control.
After watching the skit on YouTube I had to admit it was funny and not demeaning in any way to Sarah Palin but it sure did nail the NYTimes reporters.
Obviously you didn’t understand that the skit was a huge slam on the NYT and their gutter approach and lies on Governor Palin.
And you didn’t get the point which was that the Times is willing to go down that rat hole without any shred of proof. This skit was a complete and utter hit job on the NY Times, it’s journalistic standards and the quality of the people who work for them. People who are out of touch, think they are sooooo sophisticated when they are anything but and hell, they even had a guy working for them called Karl Marx.
well that vid didn’t last long.... NBC must have their goons out in force this morning.
This was exceptional. Thanks for posting!
