It was a tragic scene in North Las Vegas involving a baby and two dogs. A four-month-old was attacked by two Pit Bulls. The dogs were attacking so viciously police say they had to shoot them dead upon arriving at the scene.
Residents in the neighborhood near Cheyenne and Martin Luther King say they are shocked but not surprised that it happened. Neighbors tell News 3 the two Pit Bulls were full grown dogs and when the baby girl arrived at the house four months ago they began to display aggressive behavior towards the child and anyone who held her.
"We knew that someone had shot somebody," a neighbor named Gloria told News 3.
The shots that Gloria and her neighbors heard was North Las Vegas police shooting the two dogs still on the attack.
"I look in. You could see the dogs laying dead," another neighbor, Jason Howell said. The shots prompted Howell to run to his neighbor's house to see if he could help. He says that what he saw will haunt him. "There are some peculiars I don't even want to discuss," said Howell.
Howell says other neighbors have commented on the dogs' aggressive behavior. "You don't have Pit Bulls around children, period," Howell said.
Also according to neighbors, the child's grandmother was at the home babysitting when the attack happened.
Neither police nor neighbors know what sparked the attack. "You have an aggressive breed dog, a Pit Bull and a child in the house. They ripped it to shreds," Howell said. What could the child possibly have done to instigate that? I have a daughter who is 18 months old. And the look on the father's face is something I'll never forget, ever. That's all I have to say."
The grandmother who was in the house sustained injuries. She was taken away by ambulance.
It was just a couple of months ago that a local animal control officer was attacked by three pit bulls. In July the officer responded to a home in North Las Vegas.
According to reports the dogs were loose in a neighbors yard near Centennial and Lamb. The officer managed to get away from the dogs and locked herself in her vehicle.
In April two 5-year-old boys were attacked by two Pit Bulls outside a home near Vegas Valley and McLeod. One was bitten in the face, the other in the leg. Both dogs were put to euthanized..
NOTHING is wrong with Porterville what is wrong with you? Being conservative is all about taking personal responsibility. Dogs are not evil, owners are.
But it is really nice to see the heat is no longer on Dobies or Rotties.
Pit Bulls cannot be trusted. They are a very vicious and all States should have a law prohibiting ownership. They should all be put down.
And I've known all of these breeds to be as sweet as punch.
Liberalism is a lie. So are many of the punch lines in the media.
Time and again I’ve read about gentle pit bulls attacking a child. A couple of years ago an 8 year old was attacked and killed by a couple of pit bulls that he had played with for a long time. These animals have an instinct to kill that sometimes becomes overwhelming when two or more get together.
and replace it with drugs, porn, alcohol, and food... and a Fuhrer... all to provide the methadone to the masses.
The dogs belonged to the mothers boyfriend and came into house through screen in door and Cenedi was ripped from her stroller. Chief Joseph Forti said the dogs were in the backyard of the home prior to the attack. The dogs managed to enter the home, possibly by bursting through a screen door, and began attacking the baby as she lay in a stroller, he said. “They just went right for the little girl.”
Yes, I’ve seen Labs that will take on coyotes, but those same labs roll over on their backs for kids. And all of the Pit Bulls that ended up attacking people did not belong to crooks and thugs, some were the proverbial “nicest dogs in the world”, raised by caring owners until something happened. One should never trust any breed of dog with a baby without direct supervision.
[What about the ones accompanied by 350-pound-plus, meth-addicted, rural lesbians, who prefer country music?]
Oh man, the visuals on that one are almost too much to take!
You wouldn't trust a horse around your kid... a rooster... a pig... a duck..... a goat... a cow ... a lizard or even a rabbit.... why a dog of any breed?
It is the owners responsibility.
We have dozens and dozens of stable breeds to pick from - what is this selfish obsession with owning a pit bull that could, given the wrong stimulation, become a killer? In far too many situations the pit bull IS the "gun" murdering the person.
Is it so important to be able to have a pit bull that so many people have to die every year for the "pit bull" cause. Are pit bulls more important than human beings? We conservatives claim to believe in the sanctity of human life - haven't we seen enough of it's destruction by this poorly designed breed that continues to demonstrate latent instability and hostility?
“Please stop posting this stuff!!”
They won’t stop.
They have an agenda and get a thrill up their leg when they run across a story such as this and they race to post it.
Ask any of them how often they’ve posted stories about other dog attacks. They are not interested in understanding the causes of dog attacks and preventing them, only in generating hysteria and imposing draconian government restrictions on responsible dog owners based on EXTREMELY RARE occurences such as this. Bunch of holier than thou control freaks, a pox on the lot of them.
Maybe we need less laws and teach people common sense. You really want more laws? really? really????
Idiots do idiotic things regardless of what is legal or not. That is what makes them idiots.
Conditioning and inbreeding would be what I am worried about with these dogs. You just don’t know what you’re getting.
