Poll: White Democrats may pose problem for Obama
One News Now/The Associated Press ^ | September 20, 2008 | Ron Fournier and Trevor Tompson

An AP-Yahoo News poll has found one-third of white Democrats harbor negative views toward blacks - many calling them "lazy," "violent" or responsible for their own troubles.

The poll, conducted with Stanford University, suggests that the percentage of voters who may turn away from Obama because of his race could easily be larger than the final difference between the candidates in 2004 - about two and one-half percentage points.

Certainly, Republican John McCain has his own obstacles: He's an ally of an unpopular president and would be the nation's oldest first-term president. But Obama faces this: 40 percent of all white Americans hold at least a partly negative view toward blacks, and that includes many Democrats and independents.

More than a third of all white Democrats and independents - voters Obama can't win the White House without - agreed with at least one negative adjective about blacks, according to the survey, and they are significantly less likely to vote for Obama than those who don't have such views.

Such numbers are a harsh dose of reality in a campaign for the history books. Obama, the first black candidate with a serious shot at the presidency, accepted the Democratic nomination on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, a seminal moment for a nation that enshrined slavery in its Constitution.

"There are a lot fewer bigots than there were 50 years ago, but that doesn't mean there's only a few bigots," said Stanford political scientist Paul Sniderman who helped analyze the exhaustive survey.

The pollsters set out to determine why Obama is locked in a close race with McCain even as the political landscape seems to favor Democrats.

The Asspress is laying a stereotypical guilt trip on white people. This is a straw man piece of propaganda.

I don't think so. I've been observing this since Hillary bowed out of the race.

I live in Cuyahoga County, OH, a heavily Democrat-controlled area. I run into these guys up at the local Eagles Club every weekend. And when you get a few beers in 'em, they are quite honest about not wanting to vote for a black guy. Of course, I'm sure that in the confines of the club, they figure that they're "among friends".

But of course, I'm not THAT much of a friend, because I'm not one of them. So I just sit back and laugh and shake my head at what I always knew about Big Labor Democrats - they are as racist as any people on the planet.

O'Bammy has fractured the delicate amalgum of unrelated small interest groups that make up their party. They aren't going to be walking in lockstep in 2008. And that's good for America.

I couldn't care less what happens after the election. What are the moon-bats going to do, call McCain names and demand that he be impeached?(See last 8 years)

I've said it before and I haven't changed my tune: if racism helps to defeat obozo-I'm all in. If global warming helps to defeat obozo-I'm all in, etc, etc.

Bottomline-whatever needs to happen to defeat this commie-muzzie is A-OK by me.

Here we go again,
I’m a white anglo-saxon Protestant and I will vote McCain-Palin.
So quite obviously I’m a racist.
Has nothing to do with Obamma lamma ding dong wanting to raise my taxes to pay for what ever he wants to spend my earned money on. Not like I want, on my family.
He is a socialist. i am not.

Although I’ve always had the personal opinion that I would vote for a Keyes(I supported his run)/ Steele/ JCWatts - this crystallizes something for me, I’m afraid to say:

Until the day comes that the vast majority of black (and white) Americans can look past the color of the skin when they are choosing who to vote for, and the policies that are “right” for America, I may not be able to vote for someone who is black for national office due to the pressure that will be put on them solely due to their race if they achieve the office, and charges of “racist” being tossed around whenever there are disagreements about policy.

I believe that America HAS reached that stage with respect to M/F now and that the sniping at Palin is not related to her sex, but is due to ideology. Unfortunately, that is not true about Obama. Partially in evidence, I believe there are thousands of white “community organizers” with equivalent experience and degrees who have not been able to get near a seat in the IL senate or the US Congress - and that the only reason Obama is the Dem nominee is racially based.

Sad - True

These stories focusing on racism are the last straw for me.

I’m sorry black Americans, and your supporters - you need to make some major changes. These attacks have lost you one American’s vote.

This seems to be a pattern with the Obama campaign (and the drive-by media, which is pretty much just another division of the Obama campaign) - trying to make people feel “guilty” into voting for Obama - and isn’t his far-left liberalism that makes us not vote for him, its because of his race. Right...

Ha, ha,ha,ha ha, ............ At first I thought wrong race but on second thought I think it works really well. In order for the RATs to counter it they have to declare NACAR a racist thing and then explain the nuances.

It's Dover this week isn't it?

RE: "far-left liberalism that makes us not vote for him"

You got it!

We can puncture all the Mau-Mauing MSM racist nonsense with one word. That one word is conservative.

If the black candidate were conservative there would be no MSM bias, no talk of racism.. nothing except perhaps much ado about betrayal of his race.

If that is their strategy it will fail. The American (white) voter wont be intimidated by a threat to riot. Remember, many of us lived thru the turmoil of the 1960’s and understood it for what it really was - intimidation. We continue to allow ourselves to be intimidated by the PC Police and by the Black thuggery that permeates and sours our culture but in the voting booth there is no intimidation and in the end Marxism and it’s latest vessel will be defeated handily. Bring me a conservative Black and I will happily vote for him/her.

No one said it would work, but it is all they have left.
And once they let that genie out of the bottle, there is no putting it back.
So yes, 0bama will lose (probably by even higher numbers as they drive whites away through their attempted intimidation), and then there will be riots and violence (but it will be isolated to the urban areas where mostly minorities and white liberals live anyways — perhaps a big reason why the threats of unrest won’t work on the rural and suburban voters they will be aimed at), and finally, 0bama will have succeeded in setting back race relations 40 years.

Was it anything like Michele’s?
4.) Overseas travel

6.) Senate records disappeared
What was he trying to hide?
7.) Associations

With a resume like this I could never vote for the guy. Race has nothing to do with it...actually, it has a lot to do with it, a typical white guy with the same record and experience would never be at the top of the ticket.

“Violent?” Well the data would seem to bear that out. Blacks in America are abiout seven times more likely to commit murder than white folks are. Acknowledging that elementary slice of data does not make one a racist.

“..... for a nation that enshrined slavery in its Constitution.”

These morons can say this garbage every day and until the sun burns out, I will not feel guilt, ever, and it wont change the past.

AND, as many times that I have read our constitution, I have never seen where slavery was “enshrined”.

It disgusts me that so many blacks apparently ignore the fact that thousands of WHITE people gave their lives in bloody battles freeing their damn a$$es.... don’t make us regret it.

My husbands great, great grand dad was from New York and ended up with the Medal of Honor. He as a union soldier raided General Early's camp. Took the flag, took the the General's Bible and even his kerosene reading lamp...which has been handed down to us. The spoils of war....sorry to my Southerner friend's.

This is a straw man piece of propaganda.

I agree, but not for the reason you give. I think the Liberal Media realizes the Liberal Media will probably lose and is laying the foundation for blaming that lose on racism.

Because, as we all know, the Liberal Messiah can do no wrong. So if He loses, it must be because of racism. [/sarc]
