CBS 2 HD Has Learned Democrats Threatened To Attack Jewish Groups' Tax Exempt Status Over VP Nominee Invite
Marcia Kramer NEW YORK (CBS) ― Hillary Clinton won't be speaking at Monday's anti-Iran rally at the United Nations -- and neither will Republican Sarah Palin or any other politicians for that matter.
The reason? A heated behind the scenes tug-of-war.
Sources tell CBS 2 HD that a decision to disinvite Palin from the high profile rally after Clinton pulled out in a huff came as the result of intense pressure from Democrats.
"This is insulting. This is embarrassing, especially to Gov. Palin, to me and I think it should be to every single New Yorker," Assemblyman Dov Hikind, D-Brooklyn, told CBS 2 HD.
Sources say the axes were out for Palin as soon as Sen. Clinton pulled out because she did not want to attend the same event as the Republican vice presidential candidate.
"I have never seen such raw emotion -- on both sides," said someone close to the situation.
The groups sponsoring the rally against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking at the UN were reportedly told, "it could jeopardize their tax exempt status" if they had Palin and not Clinton or Democratic VP candidate Joe Biden on hand.
So all politicians were disinvited, most prominently, Palin.
"It's an absolute shame that this has happened," Hikind said. "To threaten organizations to threaten the Conference of Presidents that if you don't withdraw the invitation to Gov. Palin we're going to look into your tax exempt status that's McCarthyism."
Another Jewish group tried to step into the breach by inviting Palin to a different protest a day earlier.
"I'm absolutely appalled at the behavior of the Democrats," said Bob Kunst of Defenders.net. "I'm a Democrat and for the first time in my life I'm going to vote Republican. I can't take it anymore."
As for Sen. Clinton, she brushed right past CBS 2 HD's Lou Young when he tried to ask her about the issue on Thursday night.
Lou Young: "Were the organizers of Monday's rally right to depoliticize it?"
Clinton walked past Young, said "Thank you all very much" and started hugging people.
Clinton's people tell CBS 2 HD she intends to make some statement of support for the protestors. She is also expected to attack Ahmadinejad's pro-nuke, anti-Israel stance.
Rabbi Potasnik’s synagogue is in Brooklyn Heights not far from my house. When I was teaching at St. Charles Borromeo (a Catholic grammar school in the Heights) about 15 years ago, a co-teacher friend of mine had the Rabbi come into our school to teach a 7th grade class on Judaism. He is a very spiritually centered man and our students loved him. He sees the presence of God in all people.
When there is some sort of attack in the media or entertainment industry on people of the Christian faith, you can bet that Rabbi Joe will be one of the first to defend Christians.
I really miss Fr Paul, we emailed each other regularly, and I would give him headups on lots of news articles. He did have a show on Sirious Radio (The Catholic Channel) They gave him the graveyard shift, and I think it helped lead to his early death.
BTW the left wing guy on the show (Bryon Schafer is with the Council of Churches. Isnt that the group that is hosting Imanutjob?)
Of course I remember you!. I called in sometimes too, but less often than you. I am "Mike from North Caldwell."
I exchanged email with Potasnik from time to time, usually when I disagreed with him. I think all of them were deluded about "good Muslims." One of those cited to me as an example by Potasnik actually had a web site calling for Sharia Law in the USA!

Only if you choose to let them do so.
There were some good time on that show.
LOL remember when "Joan" the liberal (a great favorite of Bryon) was dumped by Rabbi Joe.
What a hoot. He does not suffer fools very easily.
McCarthyism?
Is that when conservatives are blackballed from being in hollywood productions for their beliefs?
BTTT!
That NAZI picture you found just got translated. It says ‘The Jews are our bad luck’. Where do you find that old stuff?
I just searched Google for Nazi brownshirt and store. I wanted a picture to show what the modern day brownshirts in the Democratic party are doing to try to keep people away from Jews who don't share their opinions.
Yep, you think we would have more people realizing that by now. >p?Wait! maybe they are.
1. First the libs make sure an invite to Hillary is placed - creating a “partisan” event???
2. Then, when asked, and recognizing “bi-partisanship/non-partisanship” status of the event, the organizers invite Palin.
3. Then the same libs as in 1. ask Hillary to un-invite herself, actually, artificially, making Palin’s invite look partisan.
4. Then, lastly, the same libs demand Palin be un-invited, because her sole appearance would be “partisan” (the partisanship THEY created).
Who can be fooled by this?????
He indicated that he does not want to focus on who and who wasn't invited to attend. You might want to keep an ear out, we might get a tidbit or two.

Guest talking about rally tomorrow giving directions. Have held rallies for many years. third year in a row, imanutjob is coming to UN.
He is different than other leaders because of his threats to other member nations.
He should not be attending. Wants NY'er and people across the country to speak out against Imanutjob.
UN will not punish him, The UN has done some things but not enough to reign in Imanutjob.
Are they getting any behind the scene support from other nations??? No, but the Christian community, catholics, evangelicals, protestants have been very supportive.
He can say all he wants that this is an anti-Ahmadinejad rally but his people changed it to a not-Sarah rally. By doing so they have elevated Ahmadinejad in ways they are apparently too dense to understand. I would not attend not-Sarah rally and I hope no one else does either.

Isn't the second rally suppose to be on Thursday? The one Sarah is coming to.
This Rabbi on right now was the one hosting the disinvited one, Rabbi Joe's style is not to em brass his guest.
It has detracted from the issue, but must be addressed.
First we do not have enough time to go into the details. We did not want to insult Gov palin.
Through a series of development in this high atmosphere we were put into a position that FORCED us to addresses it, and the tax status.
P
Rabbi Joe said that since invitation were sent to both sides there was no partisanship.
Question: How tax-exempt can a group be when donations to it aren’t tax deductible? At least one of the groups is a 501(c)(4). Could its tax-exmpt status really be at risk?
