[Ted] Kennedy 'very ill' ... A Kennedy update
Chicago Sun Times ^ | September 19, 2008 | Michael Sneed

Posted on 09/20/2008 7:11:28 AM PDT by Zakeet

Sneed hears the health of U.S. Sen. Ted Kennedy, whose bravura in the face of a cancerous brain tumor resulted in a surprise appearance and speech at the Democratic National Convention, is sadly going downhill.

• • Backshot: "He gave every ounce of courage to attend that convention, where an attack of kidney stones caused him to be delivered by ambulance," said a source.

• • Update: "And although he still goes sailing every day at 2 p.m., he is getting weaker and weaker. He's a very ill man. It's been said he could have three weeks, three months or three years . . . but I wouldn't bet three years."

I heard on a talk show recently that Romney may go for a potential vacant seat in Utah (I’m not sure which, it was part of a conversation). I think it was Bay Buchanan who mentioned it.

I voted on a Republican ballot earlier this week. There was one unopposed candidate (Jeff Beatty) running for any office — the person who is now Kerry’s opponent.

I hope he makes it to 11/4 so we can say saynoara at the same time to two of the most despicable and loathsome public figures to ever deface this great country.

"...nobody deserves what he is going through..."

Sadly, some people do. However, cancer is no respector of people's deserts. It all too often takes people like Tony Snow, God rest his soul and help his family.

I remember when Moynihan died, there were quite a few FReepers who reluctantly applauded him.

He was a great men, and you had no choice but to agree or disagree with what he said, but still respect him in the morning.

The Kennedy legacy is long and involved, and truly historical in America, no review of history would be complete without more than a mention of it.

So I can only offer prayers and condolences. Whether we agree with him or not, many have held Ted and the Kennedys as an example, and history will be the judge.

Even if Ted died, the voters of MA would still vote for him. He’ll never be replaced. They’ll have to get that German Doctor who plastinizes cadavers to do his trick on Ted. They’lljust stand him up in the Senate...somewhere in the corner.

I feel the most for Mary Jo's family and not the Kennedy clan .

Really? You shouldn't.

They were bought off. It was her family that prevented an autopsy of Mary Jo, an autopsy which mostly likey showm she was STILL alive when Ted abandoned her to her fate.

Had Ted acted responsible and reported the accident she would be alive today.

Instead, Ted slept off his drunk, tried to get a friend to take the fall and Mary Jo died.

And Teddy spent the last thirty years in the Senate instead of jail.

"Stand up, Ted!"

God help I loved that. I hate it when there is no one around to help me enjoy a gem like that.

I still pray that he'll be delivered from his former foolhardy bravery, before it is too late.

We can only hope that his replacement will be of higher character,

Heck, if that is the standard my dog could be his replacement.

Now that I think about it, my dog has more character than 90 % of the Congress

I pray for his soul. And I really don’t want him to die until after the election.

Remember reading once the Kennedys paid Mary Jo's family about 150K (worth probably close to one million today). Her parents (now deceased) are reported to have bought a new house not long after the accident.

Ted also has said he would prefer his wife Victoria to succeed him in the Senate, but it would not surprise me in the least to see Caroline instead. Ted's seat originally belonged to JFK, and the Kennedy family considers that seat to belong to the family.

Well, I certainly hope he survives past Nov 4 and doesn’t engender a sympathy vote for Barak.

I am not fan of Ted Kennedy but I hate to see anyone suffer. I know that G*d will deal with Mr. Kennedy in the end so I will offer prayers that there will be some comfort for his family during this difficult time in their lives.

If he dies, the ordainment of St. Teddy will make the Wellstone funeral look restrained and dignified.

I say bring it!
