As always, when I read the headline I thought "Uh oh" and then read the article to find NOTHING THERE.

Here's the Big Revelation:

The McCain-Palin campaign echoed the charge in a press release it distributed Monday, concurrent with Palin's legal filing. "Mr. Monegan persisted in planning to make the unauthorized lobbying trip to D.C.," the release stated. But the governor's staff authorized the trip, according to an internal travel document from the Department of Public Safety, released Friday in response to an open records request.

So, uh...that's it?

They twist and turn the story, and repeat and rehash it, until it takes on life, and then let the liberals fill in the blanks. I rarely understand half of what the liberals throw at us as scandal, but they've been doing it since Nixon.

But nothing their people ever do, no matter how low or how criminal, is worthy of being looked at, let alone them being driven from office. With us, it's figures of speech, tiny misdeeds, anything they can attack, and there is no shortage of these things. It's part of life, even for honest people.

Bill Clinton gets goopy with an intern, no problem. Jefferson, Rangel, you name it, shown to be crooks. They assault people and steal elections, but the media sneers and blames Republicans. Spitzer must have ticked off some commies somewhere or he would still be in power.

We already know the next anti-Palin attack will be out soon, whenever the Obaminites send them another press release.

There are several interesting aspects of this “trip”. First, it was not in the normal cycle where the governor and the staff line up their priorities and package them neatly for the representative or the two senators in DC to push them forward. This was a out-of-cycle effort. Who pushed the effort? The Public Safety Director.

Was this an emergency program that needed cash out of cycle? Nope...it was for a sexual-violence program only. Or at least this is what the Public Safety guy told the governor’s staff. When the guy finally did show up in DC....he came with a laundry list of things that went beyond the sexual-violence funding he wanted. Did the ABC News staff tell you that part? Nope. Did CNN tell you that part? Nope. Did the Newspapers of Chicago or Boston tell you that part? Nope.

What was the intentions of the Public Safety director? Well...the guy is lining up a bunch of federally funded projects that he can quickly run back to Alaska and claim credit for...and as money rolls in for his pet projects....he could claim more funding and more jobs for Alaska. So he was prep’ing his career up for governor, maybe in the next election or two. The guy needed more substance, to improve the voting record. Did Governor Sarah catch onto this act? Yes....she knew precisely what he was after in his efforts. Thats why they had a long chat with him before his trip. Evidentially, he didn’t understand a single thing that they discussed.

So would any of us fire this guy? Yes...after a 10-minutes discussion upon his arrival back in Alaska and confirmation from the senate staff in DC....I’d walked out and promptly fired him.

Would I fire a police officer who used his wife’s hunting license illegally? Yes. Would I fire a police officer who tasered his step-son as a “training” episode? Yes. Would I fire a police officer who knowingly drove around in his squad car drunk? Yes.

So lets turn the tables around....if you were a Democratic leader in this mess...you would have given a medal to the Public Safety Director for knowingly violating your instructions on a trip to DC? If I were a Democratic leader in this mess with a officer who tasers kids or drives squad cars in a drunken manner...I would have given the guy a payraise or a promotion?

I see a Republican ad here....and I’d even do the ABC news staff a favor and kindly reference their news bullets as part of the ad. What do Republican leaders do with incompetent public officials and what would a Democratic leader do? You get more votes for small town Republicans and even senators and representatives. Thank the good folks at ABC news for their hard work and display of journalism.

I like the way the document is dated as “6-19-08” at the top of the form (presumably the date the request form was filled in), but date next to the approval signature is one day earlier “6-18-08”.

Plus their is no indication on the form for the specific purpose of the trip except to meet with Murkowski.
