On Monday, in an opinion piece published in the New York Post, I suggested that Senator Barack Obama had urged Iraqi leaders to postpone making an agreement with the United States until there was a new administration in Washington.
I said this because Obama himself had said it.
By trying to second-guess the present administration in its negotiations with Iraq, Obama ignored a golden rule of American politics.
I first learned about that rule from Senator Edward Kennedy more than 30 years ago. During a visit to Tehran, Kennedy received a few Iranian reporters for a poolside chat. The big question at the time was negotiations between Washington and Tehran about massive arms contracts. When we asked Kennedy what he thought of those negotiations, his answer was simple: He would not comment on negotiations between his government and a foreign power, especially when abroad. That, he said, was one of the golden rules of American politics.
A few years later, I spent a day with Ronald Reagan during his visit to Iran. I asked what he thought of the strategic arms limitation talks between the U.S. and the USSR. He echoed Kennedys golden rule: He would not comment on his governments negotiations with a foreign power, especially when abroad.
Today, Senator Obama is the leader of a loyal opposition in the United States, not the chief of an insurrection or a revolutionary uprising. What we are witnessing in the U.S. is an election, not an insurrection or a coronation, even less a regime change.

NObama is an avowed marxist, what do you expect!
So true. If this gets enough traction on talk radio and online (now NRO, not just the NYPost), then Fox (Hannity/Colmes) really can't ignore it. If McCain makes ads about this, even CNNABCNBCCBS will be forced to cover that.
He went because he wanted the public to view that speech as a defining moment in his political career, while at the same time he wanted to invoke the memory of Kennedy and his speech in Berlin.
He is so shallow that in his mind “young, President Kennedy and Berlin” = “young, President Obama and Berlin”.
Remember, he has said Caroline Kennedy would be his Ambassador to Britain, just like her grandfather Joe Kennedy was.
It is all image over substance with Obama and his campaign.
I firmly believe they do these types of shenanigans because the uneducated or ill informed will latch on to the imagery and see him as being presidential. They don’t listen to what he says or ask questions about what he believes. They just sit back in awe of him.
I would love to know why the McCain campaign is not going after this story like a hungry dog on a steak...
______________
The only reason I can think of is is that Obama denied it and there is no “smoking gun”, the Iraqi leader needs to come out forcefully and make Obama call him a liar. The press would HAVE to cover that.
If this is true, it shows that Obama is a real loose Cannon on the deck of American Politics. His ego when viewed as above conventions of diplomacy can start wars when the communication between party breaks down. There is a place for Maverick, but not in diplomacy.
I know there are some educated people buying this but in my world, no one is buying this.
I CAN ONLY SAY THIS: IF THIS COUNTRY ELECTS THIS MAN, THEN SOMETHING, SOMETHING DEATHLY WRONG IN THIS COUNTRY...AND IT’S TIME TO THINK TWICE ABOUT WHAT YOU PLAN ON DOING WHEN YOU RETIRE...
This is not stupid thinking...I never thought I would have to worry about my future living in this country, but the president of the USA leads the world.
Obama will send us down a different path. Many thought at first, that maybe this guy is different and what he proposes is different.
But all now know, that he is no different and in many ways is worse. He’s a product of the Chicago machine politics and it shows.
You know the title of this article finally really hit me.
There is something deadly wrong in this country.
People used to whisper about conspiracies and the New World Order.
But, I sometimes wonder if there is a big movement underfoot in America that has signaled this big shift in thinking.
When I listen to Obama and watch the cheering crowds I just don’t get it. And the cult-like following he has chills my bones.
If he wins, America will never recover.
And I totally relate to your worrying about your future. I am just as worried. I have two young children and I am fearful for their sake. They will never understand what America was.
This will be the beginning of the end.
