Colmes: I don't know how John McCain and Sarah Palin present themselves as reformers. she took oil money when she ran for Lt. Governor. John McCain has oil lobbyists.
Rick Davis who's campaign manager..
Rove: You know Alan..
Colmes: was a lobbyist..
Rove: Alan with all due respect you can rattle on all you want about this. But if this is the standard then you have to tell me why Tom Daschle is in charge of the transition for Senator Obama?
And why Jim Johnson the former head of Fannie Mae was the head of his Vice Presidential Search Committee?
And why is Franklin Raines one of his close advisors?
We can get in this tit for tat all day long.
Colmes: But Karl..?
Rove: The fact of the matter is John McCain are reform minded mavericks and the American people see them as such.
Colmes So all candidates have oil related lobbyists? They all have people in the financial community running their campaigns?
McCain has more lobbysists.. McCain..
Rove Look Alan. With all due respect Axelrod the Chief consultant to the Obama campaign makes his living by having a grassroots lobbying firm to even out his billings in between elections.
Please do not sit there and lecture me that the special interest money from trial lawyers and labor unions somehow disappears because you found 19 people inside the McCain campaign who've been lobbyists.
Colmes: Well actually it's 59. That's more than any other Presidential candidate running this time.
You can't paint a one sided picture and say McCain's the only reformer and he's done none of this stuff and he's totally clean and everybody else is on the take and..
Rove: Alan you sound suspiciously like that Obama commercial that calls McCain dishonorable. Nobody believes that John McCain who took on Jack Abramoff and Campaign Finance Reform is in the pocket of lobbyists.
Colmes: I'm not saying he's dishonorable I'm saying he's got more lobbyists..
Rove: You're better than that Alan. Alan please. You are embarrassing yourself. I'm sorry but this is ridiculous.
Colmes: I think that's a rather insulting thing to say when I'm pointing out a fact that he has X number of lobbyists working on his campaign..
Rove: SO WHAT!! He probably has 2 or 3-thousand fundraisers raising money for his campaign.
Colmes: Alright.. mumble.. mumble.. let's move on.
Rove: He has 10's of thousands of Volunteers.. so what Alan!?!? So what if 19 of them are lobbysists?!
Colmes: Well if you campaign as a sole reformer here.. We'll be back with more from Karl Rove after the break.
I watched this exchange. Colmes never learns. He’s a pathetic excuse for a co-host of a prime-time news program. He gets stuck on one issue, and repeatedly attempts to push it, but never really gets to score any political points for his side, because he’s lifeless, and uninspiring. He has no energy, and looks like a turtle sitting there with his head sticking out of the over-sized necks of his shirts.
Rove was magnificent. Now if only McCain can do this to 0bama during the debates.
Colmes brought a Small Brain to a Large Brain debate. The results were predictable.
Wow.. just damn!
Colmes is losing it. Of course I’d be losing it too if it was my job to defend Obama and Biden every night LOL!
“Stand up Chuck! Let em see ya! ... oh my god..”
A very good show by Rove. Gingrich is also highly capable of doing a number on Colmes, who likes to try to bully conservatives by outtalking and talking over them, which is so typical of liberals and so rude. Newt and Rove take him to the woodshed quite well. Also, though you never see him on H&C anymore, Mark Levin controls Colmes quite nicely, and takes no s-— off him as well.
I don’t know- I honestly don’t. Rove is very bright- but clever strategery can backfire.
Maybe you’re right-he didn’t hear it. . . Sometimes poor Alan gets this hurt and defensive attitude when he’s challenged, which makes it hard for some people to really try to nail him on things. So yeah, Carl did that finally, and they MUST BE working on something to refute the F&F debacle behind the scenes. Maybe he didn’t want to advertise it last night.
Good video. I saw another one about the war and constitutional rights granted enemy combatants. Colmes makes the case that war was never declared and Rove says the US is at war because the president has the right to use armed force. It became a war of semantics between both of them, but I still don’t know why war wasn’t officially declared like it had been in WWI or WWII? Does anybody know?
I watched H&C once and then again 3 hours later just to see Karl nail that numbskull. It was glorious!
Rove: “You are embarrassing yourself Alan.” And it’s so predictable!
Wonder if Rove was the one that advised Bush to sign CFR and if he agreed with the Harriet Meirs SCOTUS nomination —and advised Bush to play prevent defense in the first debate in 2004
.
Token?? How dare you use that RACIST word? ..../SARC
Karl Rove was wrong on this one point:
Rove: “You’re better than that Alan. Alan please. You are embarrassing yourself.”
Alan Colmes cannot be embarrassed.
Colmes is Hannity’s “Village Idiot”, he’s paid really good to get us irritated.
Rove missed a golden opportunity to throw into the conversation the incredible number of Communists, Anarchists, Black Racists, Domestic Terrorists, Islamists, Felons and former Fanny Mae rapists on Obama’s staff and among his close associates.....
I wonder if Colmes could have found a justification for that or find the equivalent with John McCain?
he needs to explain to alan that petitioning congress is legal - and when they start on ‘big oil’, he should say “why do you hate big oil? successful companies that provide something we need and employ lots of people - why do you hate success?” then point out that democrats ran fannie mae and has cost the taxpayer $200 billion (so far) - and repeat the names franlkin raines, jim johnson and jamie gorelick until its burned on the voters’ mind more than their ‘failed bush administration’ mantra
without pausing, hit back on their ‘culture of corruption’ by naming cold cash jefferson, barney frank’s chairing the fall of banking (and schumer), harry reid’s land deals, pelosi helping hubby with his land developments, rangel cheating the tax man while writing tax law, difi passing milcom info to her hubby's business partner, etc. then point out that none of these thugs have been punished in any meaningful way - nor were any of the unsuccessful 200+ congressional ‘investigations’ about their actions
sean should have rove on every night
FOX needs to replace Colmes with Kirsten Powers. Then I might be able to watch again.
How did he ever land a spot on Fox? Do not believe he has ever had an original thought. All he can do is recite what he has been told. It is hard to believe that anyone can be that stupid.
Yeah, point taken. I just don’t get to post those pics though and I missed them.
