Colmes: I don't know how John McCain and Sarah Palin present themselves as reformers. she took oil money when she ran for Lt. Governor. John McCain has oil lobbyists.
Rick Davis who's campaign manager..
Rove: You know Alan..
Colmes: was a lobbyist..
Rove: Alan with all due respect you can rattle on all you want about this. But if this is the standard then you have to tell me why Tom Daschle is in charge of the transition for Senator Obama?
And why Jim Johnson the former head of Fannie Mae was the head of his Vice Presidential Search Committee?
And why is Franklin Raines one of his close advisors?
We can get in this tit for tat all day long.
Colmes: But Karl..?
Rove: The fact of the matter is John McCain are reform minded mavericks and the American people see them as such.
Colmes So all candidates have oil related lobbyists? They all have people in the financial community running their campaigns?
McCain has more lobbysists.. McCain..
Rove Look Alan. With all due respect Axelrod the Chief consultant to the Obama campaign makes his living by having a grassroots lobbying firm to even out his billings in between elections.
Please do not sit there and lecture me that the special interest money from trial lawyers and labor unions somehow disappears because you found 19 people inside the McCain campaign who've been lobbyists.
Colmes: Well actually it's 59. That's more than any other Presidential candidate running this time.
You can't paint a one sided picture and say McCain's the only reformer and he's done none of this stuff and he's totally clean and everybody else is on the take and..
Rove: Alan you sound suspiciously like that Obama commercial that calls McCain dishonorable. Nobody believes that John McCain who took on Jack Abramoff and Campaign Finance Reform is in the pocket of lobbyists.
Colmes: I'm not saying he's dishonorable I'm saying he's got more lobbyists..
Rove: You're better than that Alan. Alan please. You are embarrassing yourself. I'm sorry but this is ridiculous.
Colmes: I think that's a rather insulting thing to say when I'm pointing out a fact that he has X number of lobbyists working on his campaign..
Rove: SO WHAT!! He probably has 2 or 3-thousand fundraisers raising money for his campaign.
Colmes: Alright.. mumble.. mumble.. let's move on.
Rove: He has 10's of thousands of Volunteers.. so what Alan!?!? So what if 19 of them are lobbysists?!
Colmes: Well if you campaign as a sole reformer here.. We'll be back with more from Karl Rove after the break.
I don’t know. Kristen is pretty ticked off at the libs right now. Hoping she will see the truth sooner than later. We could really use her on our side. Wishful thinking probably.
So happy to see this thread on that great put-down!
Colmes always seems to toss out something that sounds intelligent — to throw off whomever he is talking to, but it usually comes out shallow and just a pile of words. Few face him so well as Rove did. It was great to see!!
On a side note, did anyone see Neil Cavuto lay the smackdown on BOR the other night when BOR went on a rant about gas prices. I thought Neil was gonna reach out and punch the man. I was yelling at the TV, "Go Neil!!!"
I think you have that pegged.
Saw it last night. Rove was great — he really showed Colmes the door.
I wonder why we can’t have a purely conservative show on Fox each night without the typical liberal dribble we hear from the likes of BOR, Colmes, Sheppard Smith and others. I want nothing but conservative views, nothing else. Is that too much to ask?
Hubby and I watched this, as soon as Alan opened his mouth I laughed and said no way can Alan go toe to toe with Rove. I knew he was going to get smacked...it was good watching though- Alan was trying so hard to get in all the talking points and Rove shot them down so easy.
Saw it last night, it was beautiful!
Funny stuff. I saw it last night and loved it. Colmes is an embarrassment to whatever planet it is he came from.
Colmes leaves me cold! What a dolt! Rove is the sexiest guy because he is so damn smart and gives a great smackdown every time! I just love the guy! He reminds me of the kid from the Christmas Story (you’ll put your eye out)grown up to look at! He has such a mischiveous look and a twinkle in his eye-he never disappoints! Ladies agree he is sexy because of how smart and right on he always is.
Great video.
Did you do a thread on it?
Too bad it only has a little over a hundred views.
Cavuto did a great job!
“Rove showed more aggressive defense of the conservative argument than the entire Bush Administration did in 8 years”
I call it the “Palin Effect”.
Nothing like a pretty girl in the room to turn up the testosterone.
I read about that...I would say unbelievable but hardly anything is unbelievable anymore, when it comes to politics.
I'm glad I wasn't there...to quote former Rams quarterback Chris Everett (sorry...Jim), they would have had to "take a station break".
I think my comment on the night of the Gianna interview was, "Alan Colmes is of his father, the devil", and that when he lies, he speaks his native tongue, that there is no good in him, that he is a liar and the father of all lies.
bttt
"That the state of war between the United States and the Imperial Government of Japan which has thus been thrust upon the United States is hereby formally declared..."
and
"...the state of war between the United States and the Government of Germany which has thus been thrust upon the United States is hereby formally declared..."
For whatever reason, Congress declared in the case of Iraq that
"The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to
"(1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and
"(2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions regarding Iraq."
Declaring that the President can use the armed forces as he see fits, in my mind, exactly equals, in its effects, declaring the existence of a state of war. The COTUS does not prescribe the language (as it does, for instance, in the POTUS Oath of Office).
