The 1972 silver sedan is registered to Rangel, who is already under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, and is parked in a coveted section of an indoor lot, near elevators that lead to his office.
House rules forbid use of the garage for long-term storage more than 45 days - and congressional aides told The Post that Rangel's car has been sitting there for years.
The veteran Harlem Democrat, who is chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, is under fire for numerous lapses.

Great photo that is, btw, of Charlie 'The Red' Rangel's car being towed! I wonder how much it cost taxpayers to keep that old Benz sitting in a Manhattan garage for 4 long years? Probably more than the car is worth!
The next best thing to photos of Charlie himself being handcuffed and frog-marched out of his offices, resplendent in a $5,000. Armani or Bill Blass suit, as the flashbulbs pop and he cowers behind Lanny Davis

From the NY Post article:
The site says the spaces are valued by the House at $290 per month - about the cost of leasing a space in a private DC-area garage - and $100 of that is deemed taxable.
If Rangel's car had been in that space since its license plates were surrendered four years ago, the imputed income would be nearly $5,000.

One way to look at it is that if we only look at the 4-year period since the plates were surrendered and consider the House's valuation of the provided parking spot as being $290. / month, my stoat-math makes that work out to $13,920. of income that he has deprived the District of Columbia due to this illegal storage.
Probably more than the car is worth!
Of course it'll depend upon the exact model, condition, mileage, accessories, etc but all except for a couple exceptional examples are currently selling for far less than $14,000.on eBay
Even if we use the Post's imputed income calculation of $5,000, most on eBay are selling for less than that.
Thanks and yes, sometimes my imagination carries me to places where truth can be seen.
Indeed a great creation, thanks so much :-)
