Perhaps it is time for the remaining Miami Herald employees to break out the Santeria rooster once again. Just three months after announcing job cutbacks in June, the Miami Herald has just announced that it is axing another 119 employees (emphasis mine):

Three months after announcing plans to trim 250 jobs, the Miami Herald Media Co. said Tuesday it is cutting another 119 positions, or about 10 percent of the remaining workforce.

Eighty full- and part-time employees will leave the company, while other, vacant jobs will be eliminated, Miami Herald President and Publisher David Landsberg said.

If you can cut 119 employee positions and still publish the paper, then you must have had too many to begin with.............

The Miami Herald is a terrible news source. They either get it wrong or take the liberal side on ALL issues.
They deserve to close.

I remember working at the Herald back when Hurricane Andrew passed through. The city was reeling and people needed to place a lot of ads to sell their houses, boats, property. The classified ad room had dozens of people working and you couldn’t walk through some sections. How things have changed.

I remember when the Herald went from an exile-bashing, pro-Castro newspaper to an America-bashing, pro-Communist newspaper. Goodbye and good riddance.

I preferred Diario Las Americas when I was down there.

One big thing the Herald used to have going for it is that it once had a very unique look. Much different than any other newspaper. Something about the way the type was set and the general layout told you that it was a South Florida newspaper. Then they brought in someone about 10 years ago to do a massive redesign with the result being that it was blanded down to look like any other very ordinary newspaper.
