YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A double murderer scheduled to be executed next month in Ohio said Tuesday he has not deliberately gained weight to rule out his death by lethal injection.
Instead, Richard Cooey said in a death row interview that his execution cannot be carried out humanely under current state procedures because his veins are hard to reach.
"Vein access was an issue even when I was back in the service," Cooey, 41, said in an hour-long interview with the Associated Press at the Ohio State Penitentiary.
Cooey, 5-foot, 7 inches tall and 267 pounds, said he has gained perhaps 70 pounds while being locked up for raping and killing two University of Akron students 22 years ago while he was on leave from the U.S. Army. He blamed the weight gain on medication and lack of exercise.

His idea of using a .45 isn't that bad either, just a little messy. Perhaps they should get the #2 guy on death row to come in and clean up from the guy before him....
Or just stop overfeeding him for a couple weeks. Problem solved.

His weight could be an advantage in hanging him...he wouldn’t have to drop as far to break his neck.
Because he’s a double murderer and twice the size of most men shouldn’t he be put to death twice?
At his weight even 6 inches might be enough to pop his head off.

His fat ass has been on death row for 22 years, enough already, let justice be served for the two young girls he raped and murdered.
Guess what lardass, I guarantee you, putting those little needles into your arms and leg will hurt a hell of a lot less then the pain those two girls endured when you raped and murdered them.
They should remove his feeding tube so he can experience a euphoric death.
It's a problem for my 77 year old Korean War Vet step father too but he just sits and allows the nurses to jab away until they find it. He's not over weight either.

In fact, out in Youngstown, this wouldn't be an unusual set of stats over in the Junior High. So,lay on the Twinkies, and proceed with the deed, just use a longer needle.
Fat is something any competent health care professional can deal with quite easily.

There’s a very large vein right next to his heart that’s really easy to find even in fat killers. There’s also a very large venous cavity in the skull that would just require about 30 seconds with a dentist’s drill to reach.
