Five (More) Things You Didn't Know About Sarah Palin
People ^ | September 16, 2008

After having famously joked at her party's convention, "You know what they say about the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull? Lipstick," what sort of lipstick does Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin prefer?

The Insider spoke to Palin's closest friends and found out, uncovering these five (more) things you may not know about her:

• She's frugal. "Sarah gave me a thank-you card after I helped her with her lieutenant-governor race," said her friend, Kristen Cole, who has known the Alaska governor since childhood. "She liked the card so much that she didn't sign it so I could give it to someone else."

• She's a techie. Palin prefers texting to phone calls.

-snip-

• She's adaptable. Palin used to wear Mary Kay lipstick, but she now prefers MAC.

I do too. I switched from plum to a much lighter pink quite a while back, but Sarah has given me courage, so I switched back. My theory is that if it doesn't sag, bag, wrinkle or bulge, you highlight it. That doesn't leave me much to choose from, lips, earlobes, fingernails, toenails. I'm quickly running out of options.

LOL. I have Twig MAC in my purse, but it looks like Sarah’s shade is a bit more red than pinky brown. Maybe she alternates? :-)

I’ve run out of “Rose Shimmer,” so I’m wearing darker colors. With fall approaching, it’s okay!

I think she does. The shade in the People pic looks more red but the shade she wore at the convention was pretty neutral. Hard to say.

My guess is that she is the only governor in the USA to have put the checkbook on line.

We are going to have to work harder than we ever have in our lives to be sure the msm doesn’t destroy her.

This is just so special to me! As long as I can remember
my family has “recycled” cards...we’d pass them along to other family members/friends with a seperate handwritten note telling the latest “receiver” the card’s history.

Just last year, I got a birthday card from my brother...the last my Mom would ever send. I cannot tell you all what holding that card meant to me!

OK So I just adore Sarah! McCain/Palin!!!

The C3 M.A.C powder is very good too. To be honest, it's a little trendy. And the lipstick is not very long-lasting and it dries out my lips. I like some of the cheaper drugstore brands better. However, the Twig shade cannot be beat for natural, but nicer (and you can add gloss on top for moisture).

I think I read somewhere that MAC's Twig lipstick and their Spice lipliner were their two best selling products.

M.A.C (Make-up Art Cosmetics), the leading brand of professional cosmetics, was created in Toronto, Canada in 1985 by entrepreneurs Frank Toskan and the late Frank Angelo and is now part of The Estee Lauder Companies, Inc. The company's popularity has grown through a tradition of word-of-mouth endorsement from makeup artists, models, photographers and journalists around the world. M.A.C is now sold in over 30 countries around the world.

I am a clinique lipstick gal myself.

I use Clinique and Estee Lauder foundation and face powders because of my fair skin and most drug store brands don’t match my skin tone very well. The better brands also give a better coverage and smoother and more natural looking finish in my experience and opinion.

Funny thing is that I can’t wear any of the high end brand mascaras – highly allergic to all of them so I buy Cover Girl.

They are along the lines of Bobbi Brown etc. I get mine when I go to the outlet center at a cosmetic store. I am a bargain hunter!

You’re stuck in the past. I see MAC at Macy’s. The girls at the MAC counter sometimes have funky looking make up on.

I don’t even think there’s a Macy’s in my county.

Don’t forget you can give back your six empty MAC containers and get a free lipstick. ;)

Oops. I am wrong. The convention pic is the one with the reddish tinted lipstick. I am thinking of the Charlie Gibson interview where she wore a neutral shade.

I used to wear the Spice lipliner. I am not crazy about the texture of the MAC lipsticks either but their foundation and concealer are very good. Stila lipsticks are the same but the eyeshadows and blush are good.

Oooh, that is good stuff. And the Juicy tubes too. ;-)

During the day, I only wear gloss.
