New word "Media-boat" (rare activism Vanity from Seaplaner)
vanity | 9/16/08 | Seaplaner

My dear FRiends, please allow me this rare vanity to suggest a new word for our lexicon, it’s a compound noun used as a verb, and its meaning and application are instantly apparent.

Media-boat, or mediaboat, v. (t)

–verb (used with object), -boat•ed, -boat•ing.

-to use print, broadcast, or online falsehoods to destroy or harm in the most treacherous and vicious ways available to the media: to assassinate a person's character, esp a politically prominent conservative or popular person via the journalistic or entertainment media.

-to conspire clandestinely to act as a media agent for one political party and against another; selectively characterizing the good news of one, and the negative news of the other. The inventing or distortion of facts for reporting to harm political opponents, especially to conservatives or Republicans.

Ex. “The networks are media-boating Sarah Palin’s life and history in politics in order to promote left-wing and globalist agendas and to aid Barack Obama’s candicacy.”

.

Thumbs down

‘swift boating’ has been incorrectly characterized as false and unjustified attacks on a persons character, when in fact they were FACTUAL PRESENTATIONS of data that demonstrated unsavory character.

To further pervert the name would be useless. But I commend your effort.

I think it is not a good idea and here is why.

It is a play on “Swiftboating” which we all know was used to defeat John Kerry, but all of the information they used in “Swiftboating” John Kerry, (who BTW served in Viet-Nam)was in fact TRUE.

Your use uses the lefts falsehoods concerning being “swiftboated” as statements that are untrue.

Actually, I think that this takes away the word "swift boat" from the Sarah Palin attacks, and beats them at their own word game.

I like it. It is a follow-up on the proliferation of “gate” scandals after the original “Watergate”. And I like the content, directed at the media.

I applaud your suggestion, but I cannot support it. I cannot support a copy-cat of another misuse of what happened. It just reinforces the original mistake.

Besides, we have a perfectly good word for what is happening... Railroading. The media is trying to “railroad” us into voting for their choice.

Won’t happen...

So media-boating would be ‘not so swift’ boating.

Thanks for your comment. I certainly agree that "railroading" is occurring.

Please consider, however, that "media-boating" has the guilty party contained in the verb...

Priceless, n'est ce pas?

Not to be redundant, how about, MEDIA-LIE.
e,g., (MEDIA LIE)The New York Times, MSNBC, reported Obama had changed water into wine during his community activist service. MSNBC, quoting the New York Times, reported Obama had changed water into wine during his community activist service.

As others have noted, "Swift-boat---" was a perversion of a factual commentary from a truthful group.

I prefer "Maggot-Media" and its derivatives and connotation. Maggots only show up on offal and corruption, and increase the breadth and depth of that offal, destroying that which they feast upon and eventually destroying themselves. Truth to the maggots in the media is like salt in an open wound; it hurts and elicits screams of anguish, and allows the recovery of the underlying truthful body.
