Why doesn’t the USSC find the DC Mayor and Council in contempt and have them jailed?
I just now emailed my representative, Lloyd Doggett (D TX), about this. If he doesn’t support the bill, at least he will know one of the reasons I am voting against him.
You have my deepest sympathies. Nobody deserves that sorry SOB.
Seems funny that our elected officials are afraid of an armed citizenry in the area where they work.
Can't be asked enough.
I signed the GOA email to my congresscritter about this yesterday!
Be Ever Vigilant!!
Does anybody know the latest on Heller’s suit for relief based on the Supreme Court’s decision? I thought I read that DC was supposed to have responded, but I can’t find any news.
Good question, but I don't know the answer. Maybe that's above their pay grade.
Sorry Joe, I didn’t know how to post on the banglist so I tried it the way I ping FReepers on other ping lists. I guess I should get on the banglist myself so I would know how to do these things.
Someone (I was thinking it was you) had added the "banglist" keyword to this post, and that's all one needs to do to flag a thread to the FR "banglist".
I have my own private list (as you know, but you aren't on it*) which is a different animal entirely, but for the same overall goal.
* Not yet, anyway. Do you want me to add you?
geez louise politicians are full of themselves aint they ???
even 'friends' of the 2A in suits cant wrap their heads around the fact that they cant 'restore' a damn thing which they didnt create and canNOT deny [beyond the legalese]...
anyways, even a broke clock is 'right' 2x/day...
I think I read recently that Heller finally got his permit to keep a handgun in his house and he won't have to keep it unloaded and broken down as before, but I'm not absolutely certain of any of that.
The debate on the bill is being shown on C-span right now, 4:00PM, but it's obvious that the Democrats aren't going to pass it unless the Republicans drop their amendment that makes the bill meaningful. The Democrat version doesn't really do anything except make it appear that something meaningful will be done if it's passed which it won't. They probably think that if they stall it off until next year they can pass it with the amendment intact for the benefit of their pro-gun constituents back home and then Obama will veto it.
Please add me to your list Joe, and thanks for the invite.
The Dems I watched on C-Span today trying to gut this bill are certainly full of something, and I don't think it would smell very good if it was exposed to the atmosphere.
Mr. Heller was only allowed to register a .22LR revolver, and it must be kept locked up at all times unless actually under attack. He was NOT allowed to register his M1911 semi-auto.
...hence “Heller II” which was recently filed, with both DC and the House frantically trying to defuse with new resolutions/regulations/legislation. Apparently the NRA had a backroom chat with Dem leaders, explaining “you REALLY don’t want us to go there.”
Unfortunately, it appears that NFA items will remain illegal in DC.
