I have a child on the way and I would probably feel like a total failure as a parent if she turned out to be a liberal. Anyone know how this can be prevented?

Your first post is great. It is a reaction to Begala’s consistently nasty persona. In the past, Begala and Carville had some kind of TV show where they commented politically. I can’t remember which show or what station.
Begala was always small minded and mean spirited, almost evil. Whereas Carville was more of an ‘entertaining’ liberal, not gutter minded.
Begala’s persona is almost sociopathic in his presentation.

He will wake up when he gets his first regular paycheck after he graduates. I know I did. I was a lefty loser until 1975 when I graduated and found out I was expected to make it on my own.
Hope you aren’t paying his college bills. Nothing makes it easier for the left on colleges to enroll young men & women into their ranks than kids with too much time on their hands while having their tuition and board being paid by mom & dad.
Consider charging your son $1000 to $5000 for each presidential election in which he votes democrat. Don’t collect now; just charge him in your estate. Pass the money on to another relative.

You did great. Advice: (This is not a criticism - just something I learned from experience.) Vanity or personal opinion posts are fine during low peak times of FR operation such as now. But save them for later if there is a big breaking news event or during the day of an election, e.g. as the server gets bogged down at those times with all the people using it.
Just give your son time. He’s surrounded by people who think just like him. When he gets a job, starts paying taxes and supporting himself, he’ll see things in a very different light.
Winston Churchill wrote (I paraphrase): “Any man who is not Liberal at age 20 has no heart. If that same man is not Conservative at age 40, he has no head”.
It will take experience with the real world to cure your son of the brainwashing he has received from the Education establishment. (I was 31 when I voted for a Republican for the first time - 1984). Be patient and gently challenge some of his more outlandish assumptions. He very well may come around.
