My oldest son went off to college and became a Democrat. If that isn't enough, he constantly tries to convince me that our family’s conservative values are wrong and I should vote for Barack Obama. Well that's not happening, but he still tries.
Last week he called me and said, Mom I sent you a book. It will totally change your mind about the election. The next day I receive a package with Paul Begala’s (that hateful Clinton shill from CNN) book called Third Term. My first response was Third Term, well that would be much better than the alternative.
I thumbed through the book and in addition to the usually liberal garbage, it contains cartoons, one of which portrays Bush and McCain as the characters in the movie Brokeback Mountain. I didn't even recognize it at first, my son pointed it out and thought it was funny. Well it's not. Portraying our Commander in Chief and a hero like John McCain in this deviant light is offensive.
I've been lurking at FreeRepublic for a while but after I saw these comics I created an account. Its a few days later and I am mad as ever so I decided to write my first post.
Normally I would chalk this up to liberals being liberals, but Begala is on the Communist News Network every day spewing his hate. I needed to take some action. In addition to writing this post, I sent a letter to CNN demanding they remove Begala from the air or at least remove him from Presidential Campaign Coverage. After calling John McCain gay in his book he is no longer fit to be on TV.
I also emailed several Family Values Organizations I am a member of and the McCain Campaign and asked them to speak out. I ask my fellow Freepers to speak up as well. I realize my voice matters little, but as a Christian I need to stand up against this hate.
If I had a worthless brat that turned out to be a commie, I’d make sure that I’d leave everything to National Review and the NRA. The only thing Jr. would get would be a 3 hour DVD of me pointing and laughing.

You did great. Advice: (This is not a criticism - just something I learned from experience.) Vanity or personal opinion posts are fine during low peak times of FR operation such as now. But save them for later if there is a big breaking news event or during the day of an election, e.g. as the server gets bogged down at those times with all the people using it.
Just give your son time. He’s surrounded by people who think just like him. When he gets a job, starts paying taxes and supporting himself, he’ll see things in a very different light.
Winston Churchill wrote (I paraphrase): “Any man who is not Liberal at age 20 has no heart. If that same man is not Conservative at age 40, he has no head”.
It will take experience with the real world to cure your son of the brainwashing he has received from the Education establishment. (I was 31 when I voted for a Republican for the first time - 1984). Be patient and gently challenge some of his more outlandish assumptions. He very well may come around.

If the offensive cartoon cannot be located online (I suspect that it is somewhere online), if you have a digital camera with close-up capability, you could take a pic of the cartoon, then post it here on FR on this thread.
If you don't know how to post pictures, then request instructions here in this thread, and someone will assist you.

As I said earlier, don’t pay his college bills. When he finds out it is all his money going for an education he will suddenly have a lot less time for the lefties at campus.
That’s why I later posted that it may be a college spoof publication. I cannot find any mention of it thru Goooooogle......IF IT WERE REAL, IT WOULD BE ALL OVER THE PLACE!..............

Something about this just don’t seem right. Can you post the publisher’s name and address? It must be on the inside somewhere. If this is a college “spoof” publication, then it may just be a joke, not connected with Paul Begala or anyone outside the college........
The problem with making your first post a vanity without anything else to reference to is that we have no way to judge your veracity. For all we know you could be a liberal posting bogus information to stir up the yokels.
