Since Sen. Barack Obama traveled to Europe earlier this summer, advisers to Sen. John McCain's campaign have sought to raise questions about what it means for the United States to have a candidate for president who is treated as a celebrity abroad.
A new poll sponsored by the German Marshall Fund that tests attitudes toward the two candidates is sure to add fuel to that fire.
To the surprise of no one, Europeans are much more favorably inclined toward Obama than McCain. Nearly 7 in 10 Europeans felt favorably toward Obama, with his best reviews coming in France (85 percent), the Netherlands (85 percent) and Germany (83 percent).
About one-quarter of Europeans had favorable feelings toward McCain; he was most well-liked in Portugal (35 percent), the Netherlands (33 percent), Spain (33 percent) and the United Kingdom (33 percent).

Sounds like another good campaign ad....
How about a poll on where Cubans, Venezuelans and Saudi Arabians stand on our election?
Not surprising for a bunch of socialists, but do the Euros even know who McCain is? After all, Obama has been covered like he’s a cross between Hanna Montana and the Pope, with nothing but fawning press coverage. They have no detractors to their propaganda organs.
I’ll open up a big can of WHO THE HELL CARES WHAT THEY THINK to celebrate ...
Great! Send 'im on over...
Well it’s just hard cheese (as the Brits say) that Europeans don’t get to vote in our elections.Of course half of Mexico will be voting (illegally) and they’re not likely to vote for Senior Juan McCain.
Frankly, my dear Europeans, I don’t give a damn what you think.
No thanks Britain.... You want Obama you can have him..
Yeah. When to anti-American cruds voice support for the clown who would most assuredly ruin the American economy and defense posture, it’s sure sign that McCain is the one who is on the right track.
If they want him they can have him.
I think he'd be happy in Tehran as well. His views on this country's place (and status) in the world are practically identical to Imanutjob's and the 9th Century knuckle dragging mullahs who pull his strings.
Yead. Send him to one of those African countries where they are killing everyone within sight or hearing --- we might get lucky.
Bump that!
I’m British, and I’ve been rooting for McCain. Consequently, I’ve been bigging up Obama on other forums, and insinuating that voting for McCain means that we foreign types will think they’re all a bunch of bible bashing, unsophisticated hick rednecks. Hilarious jokes about bad teeth etc ensue, along with the promise that they will be voting for McCain to spite my effete limey ass. Mission accomplished.
I don’t mind admitting this devious, underhanded manipulation on my part here, because doing so here on FR isn’t likely to lead to people voting Obama just to hack me off....
So what?
Those same folks prefer snails to steak.
The bolder and smarter Europeans left Europe a long time ago, and came to the New World. The ones left behind probably prefer to be kicked around by the government.
