But the Illinois senator used a teleprompter at both his Colorado events Monday — making for a particularly peculiar scene in Pueblo, where the prompter was set up in the middle of what is normally a rodeo ring.

Good place. They put it with the other bull$hit.

I have no problem with notes - that makes complete sense and is a fair device to keep one focused and on-message. And I don’t even have a problem with teleprompters when used for a large live event that is also being braodcast over the boobtube.

BUT a teleprompter in the middle of a moderate-to-small crowd that is clearly not a tv media event is beyond belief.

This is hilarious. Every article about Palin mentions that she reads prepared speeches and such, but Obama gets POINTS for it!

Correct me if I am wrong but as far as I know Sarah will refer to notes/printed speech. The difference of course is that a teleprompter attempts to give an impression of personableness by constantly "looking" at different parts of the crowd.

Nothing like a Monty Python reference to start the day. LOL

Obama’s use of a teleprompter points to a memory problem of some kind. I suspect this occurred over time, after many hits from a crack pipe.

If Obama is comfortable ridiculing McCain’s disability, then he should be happy when McCain ads call attention to Obama’s substitution of teleprompters for brain power.

I’d like to see ads where Obama’s performance with and without the teleprompter is compared.

“Is this box running for President, Mr. Obama, or are you?”

“Who comes up with the best ideas, Mr. Obama? You, or the teleprompter?”

“If Obama’s ideas make sense, why does this box have to keep reminding him?”

The Democratic presidential nominee has never tried to hide the fact he delivers speeches off the device, though normally he doesn't use one at standard campaign rallies and town hall events.

Oh CNN! Nobody hides the fact that at major media events/speeches/conventions etc. EVERYBODY uses a teleprompter. So in essense no major candidate would try to hide the fact that they use a teleprompter in standard venues deemed appropriate. The point is (ie. the reason for your headline) is that Obama is setting a new precedent for himself and most others by bringing the teleprompter to basic stump events where notes in one hand are standard, acceptable fare.

Since no one knows who Obama is and the left loves his speeches, it would be nice to know who the “man behind the curtain” really is that the liberals so love. Obviously skilled in Marxist philosophy.

I hope the media gives him the right questions and answers to load into the teleprompter for his debate answers.

Wouldn't be the first time this election that Democrats (including Obama) got a peak at the questions.

A rigged debate is a rigged election.

Absolutely right on! It’s time for the McCain/Obama debates SEATED! Then the world would know that Obama has no knowledge of any of the issues. Who exactly would be running the country? Names, please!
