I know there are many Republicans, Independents and, of course, Democrats who are baffled by Senator McCain's choice of Governor Palin as his running mate.
In the past, the Senator (whom I know personally and like) has admitted to making decisions without thinking them through sufficiently. He just lives with the consequences, he said.
Now, of course, if he's elected, we live with the consequences.
I hope for everyone's sake he spends more time thinking. In other words, to paraphrase Sarah Palin, I'm not worried about how much our leaders blink, I'm worried about how much they think. Unless people on all sides blink, it seems to be the case, we get wars.
All of this talk of God's plan from Governor Palin makes me and millions of others, I'm sure, very uneasy.
Was it God's plan that we had 9/11 or the holocaust?
To tell us there's an island in Alaska where you can see Russia, suggesting, I guess, that that's some kind of qualification for high office is frightening. When I'm in New York, I can see New York and New Jersey. But in my wildest dreams, I don't see me running for office in either state, I promise you.
It doesn't get more serious than running for Vice President and taking on the responsibility for countless millions of lives and yet in my lifetime, I've never heard sillier or more frightening talk.
Again I think of General Eisenhower, who believed in waiting as long as possible before he made a decision as general and president. He took ridicule for it too, often being referred to as President Eisenhowever. I liked his opponent, Adlai Stevenson, and I liked Ike.
When you're talking about our presidency or vice presidency, you better have serious, thoughtful people, and too often that just isn't the case.
“Shut Up, Chuck! Oh, my goodness, What am I saying....”
Stand up, Chuck.
See? They're treating her like she's just a housewife from rural Alaska. She's the Governor there you media idiots!
Grodin should not have slept through Career Day - otherwise he might have picked something at which he could have had a measure of success. Although I can’t say I see him as anything other than a failure no matter what he chose.
Who is Charles Grodin?
I never heard of him.
A lecture on thinking hard about decisions from the star of ‘Clifford’?
Thanks, but no thanks.
For crying out loud is that all there is?
Send in the clowns?
Don't bother ... they're here.
For those of us outside the Bankruptcy Capital of the World who is Charles Grodin and why should we care ?
That's just it, Charles. That's exactly it, Charles. You are baffled. You have no clue. You have no inkling whatsoever of why, what, when or where of conservatism. You remain in the darkness of your own choosing. You "feel" instead of "think". You don't have a friend in reason or logic. It is incompatible with your very existence. You look down upon the American people as beneath contempt from you skyscrapered ivy covered ivory towers. You remain oblivious to every sort of danger yet cry danger at every thing that would protect you. I feel truly sorry for you and your ilk. It must really suck to live a liberal life..............
Charles Grodin should have thought.....
“When I’m in New York...”
And therein lies your problem Chuck.
You and too many of your fellow east coast provincials, think that the office of the President has to somehow pass muster in your allegedly “elite” circles.
Sorry John Mc Cain didn’t ask your permission with this historic and stunning selection, which has done nothing less than absolutely ignite the formerly disgusted and beaten down conservative base.
Like Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin is going to do an end run around the Beltway, media elites and Hollywood. Many of us will be like pulling guards and gladly run ferocious interference for her.
Put your chinstrap on. Tight.
Are we supposed to know who Charles Grodin is? Is this the guy who wrote the book about his Labrador Retriever?
I like you a lot!
Second hit piece from the New York Daily News I’ve read today. Looks like we know where they’ve cast their lot.

“It doesn’t get more serious than running for Vice President”
Actually, I think it gets one more serious than that, Chuck.
No, no, he's not a media idiot -- like Damon, he's an actor, their qualification to have their opinions heard (and supposedly counted) is that the portray someone else, doncha know.
Come to think of it, more often than not, Grodin plays a major loser.
LOL
