Charlotte, N.C. Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden says electing a black person to the White House would be transformative.
Biden, campaigning in Charlotte, said Sunday that choosing a black candidate would be a "transformative event in American politics and internationally."
His running mate, Barack Obama, seeks to be the first black president in the United States. Biden said Obama's policies make his presidency even more transformative.
North Carolina hasn't voted for a Democrat in three decades but has a large black population galvanized by Obama's candidacy. Both Obama and Republican presidential candidate John McCain have been airing television ads in the state.
Biden said he and Obama are reaching out to North Carolina voters.

Hahahahahaha. The ultimate quota hire.
Anyone who says differently is clearly a white-hooded Republican.
Why the hell is Biden in NC? Obama will nver win there.
Fo’ shizzle!
So... I guess, after years of being taught to ignore race, and learning that I should vote for someone based on the content of their character, Biden tells me I should vote for Barack because of his race.
No, this is absolutely not about race [/sarc]
Just look at Zimbabwe.
I don’t know of many people that don’t want a black for President..............just not this one. Obama is a socialist of the worst kind. Not what this country needs or wants.
Lets see in the past week or so Fauxbama has argued that we shouldn’t look at resumes (or the candidate itself) but just vote the party line. And now Biden is arguing we should just vote based on skin color.
Weird, I’ve never in my life ever heard anyone should make a determination for hiring someone based on anything other than merrit.. yet here the entire democratic ticket is arguing ignore merrits, hire us simply because of the superficial meaningless stuff.
Putting a black man into the presidency, simply because he is black, yet completely unqualified woule be the absolutely worst thing that could possibly happen for blacks. I have no issues with a black man being president, I just damned well want him to be qualified for the job.
Fauxbama isn’t, pure and simple. I am not going to hire a guy for a job, whos resume for it is so weak I wouldn’t even give him a callback, let alone an interview. I don’t care what color his or her skin is.
Because the Dems are afraid to put him where they need to win........he could loose it for them!!
A quota hire?? The president needs to be an Affirmative Action hire?? ROTFLMAO!!!
The only thing “transformative” about Obama is that we would be hiring a racist.
Biden just flubbed his line. He meant to say, “My charitable gifts next year will be transformative.”
Don’t Be A Racist - Vote For Obama Because He’s Black
Afterall, afirmative action does so well every time it is on a state ballot.
Sounds like Milton has been moved to the basement.
I hope you're right; meanwhile let them waste their time and money.
Not sure where or with whom this started, but it began a few days ago with several stories coming out and continuing to come out about race. Some are intimating, if not outright stating, that the reason Obama will lose is because of his skin color. Others, like this one, seem to be pushing the guilt angle... how historic and important it would be.
The “race card” is being played, yes indeed... having little or nothing else left to go after McCain/Palin I expect we’re in for a lot of this non-sense.

I never cease to be amazed... those who want to stir the pot of “racism” are the ones that keep race front and center of EVERYTHING.
My philosophy in my business dealings, and my view on the world in general - go with the most qualified/best candidate. I don’t care about race. If the best candidate is black - doesn’t make a difference. If the best candidate is white - so what?
The point is - if we expect to get beyond “race” - then we have to practice that - by ignoring race an issue. By pointing out race - it just keeps it simmering.
Anyone that votes for a candidate (or hires an employee) because of their race doesn’t really care about future success. They care about keeping race an ISSUE.
Kind of like my thoughts on the “United Negro College Fund”... and why I don’t directly support that group. How about a program that helps deserving kids (regardless of race) who try hard and really want to go and succeed in college. By keeping the “Negro” part of the name - it just continues to feed the divide.
