Sadly, Chase became the type of person he used to mock on his SNL days, or as someone once put it, Chase didn’t just play Clark Griswold, he became Clark Griswold.

I'll take Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold over Bill Murray in 'anything'. Murray is a pompous ass and when he weasels his way in front of the TV cameras at Cubs or Bears games - and only when they're winning and in the playoffs - I want to hurl. So I could see why Chase would want to smack him.
An aside: We had neighbors (now divorced) who would decorate their house at Christmas time in such a gaudy & tacky manner they BECAME 'the Griswolds' to everyone around here ("OMG, did you see what 'the Griswolds' did this year?"). And I'd bet a;most every city, town, village has at least one 'Griswold'.

The only thing good in Vegas Vacation was Marisol Nichols as Audrey #4. OK, for eye candy. Randy Quaid was great as usual, though. His “feeling” Wayne Newton’s hair was hillarious.

Me neither but the original Vacation, Christmas-and to a somewhat lesser extent, European were classics.

The only thing that Chevy was funny in was Caddyshack, National Lampoon Vacation, European Vacation and Christmas Vacation <<
Hey! I LIKED European Vacation! The french waiter was priceless.

I enjoyed Chase in Caddyshack, Fletch, Three Amigos, Memoirs of an Invisible Man, and ALL the Vacation movies (even Vegas Vacation had a few good moments). Chase is a world class a-hole, so he's best when he's playing a world class a-hole (sort of how George Looney's best role was playing a total moron who thought he has great ideas in the movie O Brother Where Art Thou)
I don't think Chase has had a good part since the early 90s though.

He was a funny guy in his day. That being said, the “socialism works..socialism is good” comment he made some years ago made me dislike him.I can’t help but think of it whenever I see him in movies.
Typical liberal. He cries and runs to his room when he’s torn apart by his peers, but thinks nothing of wanting someone else to be “decimated”.

I've enjoyed his work, I've seen some of his film work that wasn't good.
If a comedian wants to be successful, being funny is high on the “to do” list
he should find sympathy elsewhere

My favorite part in “Euro” was the topless German maiden. I wanted to be Rusty. ;-)

In a nutshell...the guy who made his living off being a jerk, now is unsuccessful, unhappy, and alone.
Take a lesson kids, be nice to people.

Whatever. IMO, Christmas Vacation is still the best Christmas movie ever, even better than the boring Its a Wonderful Life. You have lost your mind....as well as any taste in real films!
